About Me
Rafael Lago Gómez, Slowlee, was born in Vigo (Spain). A year later his family moved to VillagarcÃa de Arosa (VGA) where they definitively took up residence. In early 90´s he and other primary school classmates formed a band called Tha B&B and the first songs were written. At that time Slowlee wrote in English and started to create his own instrumentals with the aid of a double tape deck. After some changes, the incorporation of Ral and Marte definitely defined the band and lyrics began to be written in Spanish (providing richness). Instrumentals were no longer simple samples taken from other bands, and the first original tracks were composed using a Korg X3 and a wave editor. The name of the band was also translated to Spanish as El Ser y Ser. In 1997 the band gave their first concert in Alen Rock 97 macro-festival and recorded two rough cuts. One of this cuts were sent to J.C. Moreno, well-known producer from Madrid (Spain), and he showed it to EDEL MUSIC record label. The company proposed the band to sign a contract for three records. After months of negotiations, the band recorded in J.C. Tihs Madrid studios in Madrid the rough cut of what would later become their first album. In July of 1999 the band traveled to L.A. (USA) to definitley make their first album, with some tracks produced by J.C. Moreno. The record was mixed by Carlos Warlick and it was recorded in the well-known CamAm Studios, known for being preferred by artists as important as 2pac, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Aerosmith¿Heres tú? was mastered in Oasis Mastering studios in L.A., with the collaboration of Eddy Schreyer, famous for his works with Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton, Offspring or Cristina Aguilera among others. In 2000 this album was released under the name ¿Eres Tú? and it quickly attracted the attention of the media and the audience because of the quality of the production, the originality of the lyrics and on the whole due to the fact that it was a risky and different proposal. Their first single ¿Heres Tú? (cover of the well-known song Eres Tú of the Spanish band Mocedades) entered the 40 Principales Galicia top chart and the video was {dalily broadcasted thru the Spanish music channels such as MTV Spain, 40 TV, Sol Música and in "Lo más 40" tv show of the Spanish channel Canal +. In 2001 the band toured the main cities of Spain in a live show called "Eres Tour 2001" with the collaboration of DJ Crazy Cuts (Germany) and DJ Freshco (Madrid, Spain), at the turntables. The last concert of the tour was given in the concert hall "Ritmo y Compás" in Madrid (Spain) with a lot of success. While El Ser y Ser were recording their second album in the summer of 2002, Edel Music record label closed down in several European countries including Spain, so they were set free and the recorded tracks would never come out as a new album.
In this moment Slowlee decided record a new cut to let his ideas and desires run free. Two years later, he had already recorded 19 quality tracks and some record labels were interested in releasing them. The most suitable was Es Tao Chun Go, record label set up in Madrid specializing in Hip Hop and R&B. For this record label, Slowlee eventually released his first solo album "Chupado",available in Spain. The first reactions were not long in coming and from the very start the album had very good reviews from the media. Some remarks pointed at him as: the new native Hip Hop star Hip Hop Nation), and some other remarks say that it is actually chupado (easy in colloquial Spanish) {HipFlow) He has hit ..1 for two weeks in the Spanish music tv show los 40 Principales "Hip Hop Deluxe" in the most voted top 5. He has climbed in the "Lista de tentaciones" magazine chart of El PaÃs de las Tentaciones from the Spanish newspaper El PaÃs. In April of 2005 the videoclip "Preciosa como siempre was broadcasted, song destined to hit ..1 because it worths it.
