"Saturday Love" Review on http://www.turntablelab.com/vinyl/155/266/14523.htmlReally beautiful work from this electric group off Freddie Cruger's label, Homegrown. The Ultimates are comprised of Freddie, Linn and her brother Stefan on vox, and instrumentalist Salem. In their first outing on Homegrown, they take the Cherrell classic, " Saturday Love" and completely transform it into a Nu-Soul celebration of this intimate love affair(1). Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE the original to this. I listen to it all the time, but I can see this new version killing it on rooftops, lounges, and lofts, for all those clean and pretty, itching to hear something new. I don't even think I can call it a cover, because the composition is so flipped and re-arranged by adding beautiful piano interludes, breakdowns, and intro, that it's hardly recognizable. The tightness of this group is rare occurrence and not to be missed. Wear a nice shirt, play this out, and be the man. One sided vinyl.
