As the daughter of one of the most influential artists in music history, Leah Wood, daughter of the Rolling Stones’ Ronnie Wood, is a talented young woman successfully following her fathers’ footsteps into the music industry.
At 18 Leah was snapped up by top model agency Models One fronting great names such as Burberry, Monsoon and Babyliss. Fashion has always been a huge influence to Leah, ‘ being brought up in my family I’ve seen some crazy fashion trends come and go… Along the way I’ve picked them up and put them into my own style, it’s wonderful looking through old picture of my parents and thinking “Wow! You really looked like That!â€â€™
Growing up Leah was influenced by films such as Princess Bride as well as the creativity of Tim Burton’s enchanting films of adventure and fantasy. Musically, Leah grew up listening to the likes of Marvin Gaye, Ella Fitzgerald, Prince, Blind Melon and Kate Bush, ‘music was always played throughout the house from late at night ‘til the early hours, when the sun was just rising.’ As an artist Leah has explored all genres of music from pop to blues and reggae finally finding herself in the dance genre. This was where Leah felt most comfortable and with a sound that defined her musically.
At 28 years of Age Leah Wood has lived the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle from an early age. She has travelled the world and experienced differing cultures, all of which have left their mark and shaped her into the person she is today. Her debut single “Contact High†brought together all these influences and manifests Leah’s vibrant and fun-loving spirit. Released through Wooden Records on October 3rd, the track was the first to be released from her forthcoming debut studio album and sets the benchmark for the hits to follow. Achieved intense critical acclaim and reaching the number 2 club chart position in Music Week, Leah was thrilled with the impact this summery dance track had on club land.
Currently pursuing her art interests studying Fine Art at Chelsea Art School; Leah has also released her follow up single ‘Orbit’ which features remixes by Artful Dodger on Wooden Records.
Leah has launched her myspace page, which has quickly gathered memento and gives her a great way to communicate with her fans.
Actively involved in the Breakthrough for Breast Cancer campaign, Leah has been working hard to promote this charity, which is close to her heart.
In October 2006 Leah was appointed as brand ambassador for Aussie Hair Care.
