About Me

Where do i start with the person known by many as either Lev, Big Tom, Bloke or Our Kid?Well I'm 21, brought up in Sheffield, Dronfield and a boarding school but living in Newcastle at the moment. I've obtained a 2:1 in History from Northumbria University and I'm planning on staying on there after graduation in July 2006, obtaining a masters degree, then training to be a teacher, or as Hoops would put it "a full time nerd."I am member of the numerous exiles which reside in Newcastle who come from the promised land of the Steel City, which is famous for four things:1. Sean Bean 2. Steel 3. Beautiful Women (especially brunettes) 4. Sheffield United Football Club: notice no mention of the pigs (lol)I am a firmly rejuventated child of the indie, after nearly succumbing entirely to the Rap and Hip Hop. I have been quoted as saying "I don't like that American stuff" (thanks Tez) but some of it isn't too bad. Tunes of the moment for me include the debut album by Maximo Park, the Mystery Jets, a certain band from Sheffield called the Arctic Monkeys and the EPs by Hope of the States and an up and coming band called Good Shoes. However nothing beats the furnished, beautiful sound of She Bangs the Drums, Money for Nothing, Hey Dude, Don't Look Back in Anger or this Charming Man. i also write the odd review here and there for my union newspaper and other rags around Newcastle. I frequently attend gigs and festivals, and this year I am off to Spain to sample the delights of the Benicassim festival. In my spare time I hang with the infamous Warton Massive in Heaton and can be seen pulling pints at lloyd's bar in the Gate. I am also a member of the world famous but unfortunately now defunct Hoof Army.

My Interests

Reading, Football with the HOOF Army, listening to tunes, going to gigs and festivals, beating Tom Spence @ Pro-Evo (I get a kick out of him being pissed off!). I have been a real jet setter too, visiting numerous countries around the world and being treated to visiting landmarks such as the Golden Gate bridge, The Eiffel Tower, the Roman Colloseum, the Tunnels of the Ho Chi Minh Trail and the Angkor Wat World Heritage Site.

I'd like to meet:

All sorts of people, and also to keep in touch with those at home and abroad who have had the privilige over the years to have met my good self. I'm not ruling out the possibility of finding a date too.

I'm a big fan of world cinema, ranging from Kung Fu Hustle, City of God, Amelie, Downfall (the guy looks so like Hitler, it's scary!), Frida, Goodbye Lenin, Nightwatch, the Edukators, The Pianist and House of Flying Daggers.War movies are an interest, especially Full Metal Jacket, Apocolypse Lord of War and Black Hawk Down. The later deserves more interest than it got.I also like my big blockbusters such as the Lord Of The Rings, The Matrix (not so much Revolutions though!) Star Wars (apart from the Phantom Menace!) and Gladiator. However, pride of place must go to George Romero and his Living Dead Movies. Morrissey: Sings and Says it like it is. Has a morality unlike any other musician.George Orwell: Wrote some the best literature known to man, and fought for what he believed in the Spanish Civil War.AJP Taylor and Eric Hobsbawm: The fathers of Modern History writing, inspired me to take history at UniversityMark Heap; His portrayal of Brian on Spaced is quality and has a tinge of what may be coming up with me from later life, except i'll probably be a tortured History teacher!George A. Romero: taught me not to be scared of the world with his living dead movies
