About Me

I am a songwriter first and foremost. Playing music, working in bands, recording and producing songs, and singing them, are all part of the process. But the main focus is and always will be the songs.
Three of the songs on this page: Face in the Crowd, Cowboy Songs Make Me Cry and ILY are the most recent songs I have written.
Songwriting is my preferred path to the madness and nirvana. -- The most fun, and also the most frustrating thing about songwriting is the "getting there" process that is used to bring a new song forth from a floating form in your head into a discernable song to be listened to.
That being said, below is a brief description of some of the things that have happened along the way in my journey.
I started out playing music the same way lots of people my age did. I listened to the Beatles and the Rolling Stones and I listened and listened and pretty soon I was picking up the instruments, banging on the drums, and, after a while, it didn't sound too bad. We never even thought about lessons -- we didn't have the money for such luxuries back then anyway.
We took the bus to Philadelphia and hit the hock shops on South Street looking for that first guitar. If you showed a bit of cash the owner would take you back into a musty smelling room that was full of great used instruments. Thinking back now -- there were some great used instruments there too. Once we got the guitar in our hands we were on our way.
Soon we were playing wedding receptions, dances and playin local bars -- from that point on -- things would never be the same, and believe me -- they haven't been.
I spent time as a back up musician with the singer Billy Harner. Billy defined "Blue Eyed Soul" in the Philadelphia area in the 60s 70s and 80s. And the "Human Perculator", or Perk, as he is known to his friends, is still out there doing his singing. Billy's biggest record was Sally Sayin Somethin, but he also had success with a Joe South song: She's Almost You. his other songs were Homicide Dresser, Fool Me
I have made many friends through out my years as musician. I would like to acknowledge many of them here. Or a least those I can still remember.!?First, I want to mention my collaborator, Joe Fanelli, and although he is no longer here in body, his spirit lives on through me and also through a friend and band member Tony Papa,
Billy (the Perk) Harner. "The human perculator", Rick Seymour, Joe Siderio, Tom D'Anastasio, John D'Anastasio, John Burgo, Murray Goodman, Phil "the captain", Ryan, Joe DiBartolo, Bob Campanell, Bunny Chester, Ed Mastranduono, Mike Lynch, Denny DuBois, Bruce James, Sammi Tollata, Lou DeMeis,
