My father! He has been the most influential person in my life. If I have anything in my life to be proud of, it is the fact that I am the son of Jim Hansen. In his 50 years of life he had done it all. Military, Police officer, Sheriff Officer, Lawyer in the state of Washington, Church Planter, Pastor, College Professor, and Missionary. My father not only preached the word of God every Sunday, but lived it Monday through Saturday. In 1997 my father was diagnosed with a brain tumor. For nine years he suffered through 9 different surgeries, radiation (lost all of his hair), seed implants, and constant seizures. He lost the ability to speak and even walk. His last two months of his life were spent in a bed, but in in those nine years I never heard my father complain! Not once, instead my father would continue to praise God for his faithfulness and goodness. I was very proud of my father for all of his accomplishments, but I believe that I was the most proud of him during the last two months of his life. Never before have I seen such faithfulness and dedication to God like I had in those two months. Not only was my father my mentor and best friend, but he was my hero! He is now in the presence of the Lord and not one day goes by where I do not think about him. I know this will be true for the rest of my life and it makes Heaven all the more real! I long for the day where I will be with my father again in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ.
