The Truffle Shuffle!!

About Me

Started playing guitar when i was about 17. From listening to my favourite bands it gave me inspiration. I had some ideas of my own, and with help from some established songwriters I made a stab at writing some tunes. A gentleman who goes by the alius of Joe Echo was very kind to donate a dodgy piece of gear to me, 4-track, on which you record onto cassette, and with the help of a Mr Lagan I was able to transfer my ideas into mp3 format, and finally online, that was how i got started. In recent months with the help of the Rural Key Project (organised by the good people behind Glasgowberry) i have been writing and recording as much as i possibly can, and 2 of my tracks will soon be featuring on the Rural Key CD for 2008!Hope to see you at a gig in the future :)

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: myspace.com/johngribbin
Band Members: Just myself, although I feel my trusty drum machine deserves a mention.
Influences: Its hard to really think of the bands that influence the stuff i am coming up with, but here are a few of the bands that i have, and still play to death; Radiohead, Damien Rice, The Frames, Metallica, Jeff Buckley, Badly Drawn Boy, David Kitt, Kings Of Leon, Arcade Fire, Coldplay, U2, David Gray, Rodrigo y Gabriella, LEYA.
Sounds Like: Its very hard to compare your music to someone else, as it is very hard to talk about your own music in general, as with anything, but sure if anyone hears my stuff they can let me know what they think, or indeed if they can make a comparison. Some guy sent me a comment saying he like the Nick Drake vibe, so theres one anyway. Thanks to Graham Smith for the pictures :)
