Many bands survive and even thrive on several strengths - an exciting live show, phenomenal songwriting, and a great album. The Misery Loves bring all of the above to the table with a remarkable collaboration of an extraordinarily passionate live show combined with their avantegaurd, yet commercially hook heavy debut album "Letter to Life" that transcends anything that has been released as of late in the independant rock world. Drawing from influences ranging from Radiohead, Led Zeppelin and Johnny Cash to Ani DiFranco, The Misery Loves are as unpredictable as they are unforgettable.
After several months of courting and discussion, The Misery Loves signed their first record deal with Pragma Records in 2006. Although the band took a brief hiatus from the live stage to regroup and record "Letter to Life" which was released by Pragma in the summer of 2006, they were anxious to regain their footing and join the burgeoning and thriving New Jersey and New York music scenes. Before long the band would find their vehicle and partner in crime in "Hey Cole Presents" booking. The Misery Loves would start to develop a following and make a name for themselves after a few successful shows, playing in support of some of their more established peers such as "Hero Pattern" and "April Smith and The Great Picture Show". The band was officially on the map after the 2007 "Wave Gathering" in Asbury Park; New Jersey's biggest and most respected music festival.
Meanwhile, their first single from "Letter to Life", "Pennyless" would eventually rise to number two on the ‘plays’ list behind the U2 and Greenday collaboration, charting in the top 20 for five months in the National Clear Channel Arena on their flagship Long Island station, 107.1, WLIR, which garnered them a major production deal with Beta-Max Artist Development, responsible for the early success of Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, Nine Months and Maroon 5. "Radio FM", the first work to be released from the "Beta-Max Sessions" is now out and soon to be interpreted into the band's first video.
Currently, The Misery Loves are working on 23 new songs from which they plan to release a live record sometime in late 2007. The band is working with Hey Cole Presents and is planning a fall tour of both regional and national clubs and colleges, a direction they feel will put them on the map as a premier buzz band.
