An Entrepreneur and his passion for music
KB was born in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, New York, where he currently a residence at. As a child KB always wanted to be around things that make noise. He began making music with a drum set, piano and a recording tape player. Year after year every gift that was giving to him was something around music. Everyone knew he had an ear for music and was supporting him to the fullest. His great-uncle legendary “Art-Blakey” was a major inspiration for him to make music, following his father family passion for music.
In summer 1998, KB created a production company called “KB Production”. While creating this production company, he created “KB Records”. He began to reach out to Artist such as Jay-Thug, Crystals, C-Class, and a host of up and coming rappers from Brownsville. Some of his first artist consisted of neighborhood rappers; Doobie, Orea, Lady Ace, Devar, and an artist which is now known as Young Blake. With them he created many short projects and worked with many other up and coming producers.
Chan Hill saw potential from Kabar, and can see the vision in which Kabar was trying to map out. Kabar joined as the marketing Director for the Label. At the same time, he was also working on his beats production for his debut as a producer. In September 2001, Kabar debut as a producer. His first record was a success in which he had his whole community going wild was “Ave’ed up” and “Club Banger” by C-Class.
When he was in high school, KB began to set even higher goals. He wanted the whole school to know him and his music. He teamed up with an artist called “Young Ace” to produce a album just for the school. On the album he produced 2 tracks called “Lonely” and a track called “Real Soldier”. When he released the LP, the first single was “Lonely”. When that song was released, his entire school recognized him for his excellent in producing the tracks. The song “lonely” consisted of a couple of samples which came from Akon’s (lonely) and Aretha Franklin (The House that jack built). More and more rappers that went to his high school began to reach out and get tracks from KB. More hits was still to come.
In his junior year in High School, a lot of opportunities came about he had a chance to work with Fan Family, a marketing company based at Roca-Fella records. Omi McIntosh also saw something in KB and noticed his passion for music. He is still currently working with FanFam and is working on a A&R workshop in which will features Atlantic Records and Defjams A&R’s. While working with Fan Fam, his career was beginning to be pushed. He began doing small 3projects with asylum and Atlantic records through fan fam. When he was working on a small project for Atlantic records, he was introduced to a new Artist name Deemi who was signed to Midi-Mafia imprint Label, Family Ties, up at Atlantic. There he meets Bruce Wayne (one half of Midi-Mafia) where he would then get more opportunities in the Music Field.
He explained to Bruce some ideas he had for his Label “Family Ties”. Bruce was trilled with KB Ideas and invited to come to his house/Studio in Jersey. “Man, when I meet Bruce it was like he was a 3D man. I read about him and saw pics but never meet him. Through a conversation we had on the phone, I hade a chance to meet a legend. When I got there I saw all types of platinum and gold awards all over his walls. I was trilled”. Seeing the unbelievable at Bruce house, He began to get highly motivated to become major. Currently he is the Marketing Coordinator for the label.
He is truly an Entrepreneur working with the following companies: Fan Family Inc, Atlantic Records, Touch-A-Mill Records, Street Credit Music, The Option to buy Ent., Def Squad and many other companied. He currently work with the following people: Marsha, Dara, Bruce, Swift (Atlantic Records); John (Cordless/Warner Music Group; Omi (Fan Fam) and Keith Murray. He is also set to go on tour with Keith Murray for the return of “Keith Murray”.
