Why B Da PaperBoi- THE CAMPAIGN IN STORES NOW!!

About Me

There is a new voice coming out of Oakland, California and his name is Why B Da PaperBoi. Recently, h..e released his debut project "The Campaign" hosted by The World's Freshest D.J-DJ Fresh. Coming from north Oakland, (North Pole), there has been a lack of representation from this area. In result Why B is aspiring to put his section on the rap map through his artistic expression. Although his plans include becoming a well known global artist, initially, this is his primary goal.December 4th, 2007 "The Campaign" was released in stores under his own independent record label, Tax Free Entertainment, which he serves as Chief Executive Officer. Why B's aim with "The Campaign" is to establish a new sound from the Bay Area besides the usual high-energy, uptempo rap the fans have grown accustomed to hearing from the number 4 market in the country. As Da PaperBoi exclaims himself "I can make hyphy music with the best of'm, but that is not going to be the first thing you think when you put in a Why B cd or anything coming from my camp. Not saying I dont do the fool or go stupid, I'm from the town that's natural, but my diversity as an artist is so broad I can touch on multiple topics. That's why they call me Da Paperboi-I give you the news!" Besides Mistah F.A.B there are no well-known features on his debut project. Rather he chooses to highlight his own labelmates like Exso Da Great, Ray Million, E.Soull, and J. Phoenix. This tactic is similar to the Cash Money Millionaires during their Hot Boy era, which catapulted them to the top of the Hip-Hop industry. "The Campaign" contains the street banger "Dippin." A song that exploits the car culture of Oakland, Ca. April 11th Why B. shot the video for "Dippin" which he choreographed and directed himself. He proudly boasts about this achievement on the set of his shoot, "This is hallmark for me. Don't call me Da PaperBoi no more, call me Why B Spielberg. Spike Lee betta watch out." "The Campaign" also includes the inspirational track "The Celebration" a song that expresses his emotions about the loss of loved ones. a very heartfelt song that he wrote in the memory of his uncle Junior Sowell who died in August 2004. Why B also has plans to shoot a video for that track as well. His hopes are to establish "The campaign" as an underground classic over time. Why B is currently working on his next project "Presidential Candidate" a cd he refuses to call an album, "Paper Route will be my debut album-period!" Candidate provides collaborations with Dem Hoodstarz, Bavgate, Clyde Carson, and Mistah F.A.B (once again). There is no set date for its release at this point but he promises it will be better than "The Campaign" and it will live up to and exceed all expectations. He says it should be on the shelves by June 2008. With releasing two high quality projects within a six month time span we can expect alot from this young new artist.Mistah F.A.B's little brother Why B Da PaperBoi has been flirting with rap since 1998. At fifteen years old he wrote over 100 songs, some of which he recorded as a hobby. due to his involvement in "street retail" Why B was sidetracked from pursuing his dream as an artist. Instead, he was establishing himself as a premier player in "the game." In 2001 Mistah F.A.B approached Why B with the proposition of rapping alongside him all the while experiencing different dynamics from what the streets of Oakland was offering. During this time period F.A.B and Da PaperBoi performed numerous shows and recorded several songs. Why B is the only featured artists on Mistah F.A.B's 2003 debut album "Nig-Latin." Why B is also on F.A.B's "Ghost Ride It" track which is the 15th most downloaded song in the world. Mistah F.A.B is currently on tour with Zion I and Why B opens several shows for F.A.B. The two remain to be close counterparts.Being an honor roll student since elementary school, Why B. has always had an affinity for higher knowledge whether through schooling or educating himself. As he explains "I never had a problem with school as an institution, I've always been my teacher's favorite from kindergarten to college, the problem was I was raised in a notorious crack house. so its hard to stay focus on books n sports when all the big time drug dealers, pimps, and prostitutes are constantly running in and out of my household." In June 2001 rather than celebrating his graduation from high school instead he was celebrating the birth of his only child-his son Mejhai, whom he says is the motivation behind all his pursuits. Why B refused to be just another statistic. In August 2003, after graduating from Berkeley Adult School he enrolled in Contra Costa College. A decision he heralds as a key turning point in his life. Taking a bunch of psychology and black studies classes he learned alot about himself, his people, and how others think. Becoming the school's black student union president, maintaining an overall 3.5 grade point average, earning two Associate degrees, and graduating as a Presidential Scholar, an honor bestowed upon only 5 students of his graduating class of close to 200 students. Why B proved to himself, and his family, he is truly ambitious, talented, and has a multi-faceted personality with many dimensions. While attending C.C.C he joined the campus' Black Song And Poetry Ensemble. Writing songs and poetry pertaining to the awareness of black America Why B only expanded his range and depth as an artist. Going back to school served Da PaperBoi in more ways than one.Catastrophically, after graduating from college in May 2006, Why B veered back to his old habits and eventually had a run-in with the law that resulted in him beind placed on felony probation in October 2007. As Why B states, "One person I went to school with asked me how could I get caught up after doing so great in school? My response was simple: I've always had two duel parts of my personality-one that's hood smart and one that's book smart. I believe both is essential to my success. To deny either side is a sort of death. That's not a justification that's a fact!" Rather than accepting society's pitfalls as a life sentence Why B chose to pursue the dream he developed when he was fifteen years old. By embarking on his rap career he is driven to not only be successful but also be a fixture in popular culture, which in turn he can use as a tool to guide youngsters down a different path. Some artists get in the game because it is the popular thing to do and others already have the game in them. In July 2007, Why B, along with getting provoked by Ray Million, decided to take his hobby seriously and pursue higher endeavors through music. He began to record several songs with the intent of a cd release. Hip-Hop as an art-form has steadily influenced his style. His goal is to be placed on Hip-Hop's Mount Rushmore with the elites. When asked about the choice of his two cd titles, "The Campaign" and "Presidential Candidate", he replied "I chose those titles because as in life the rap game is built on politics. I'm out here campaigning for success. What make an artist a great artist? whatever that is I feel like I'm the perfect candidate to be all that!"
