About Me

GB is the perfect example of an artist who has taken lemons and made sweet, sweet lemonade. He went up for a 10-year bid at the age of 15. Instead of giving up and succumbing to being locked up, GB used this time to write over 1000 tracks. He says, I was already rhyming before I went in. My mentality at the time was totally different from what my mentality is now. I didnt have the patience to write and pursue music, even though I had it me. So going to jail and sitting there all that time and being forced [me] to look at myself, and my life, cause I couldnt run from it. I was there for 9 years 8 months. I had to put it in the form of music or have a stroke at the age of eighteen. I had to vent out. So thats how I started putting mine in the form of music. He says hip-Hop kept him on a positive path. During incarceration he was transferred to 8 or 9 different institutions, state and federal. GB began doing performances in prison. The shows I was doing in there and the feedback and the response I was getting showed me the power I had. And then I had a choice whether to put the power in a negative place or a positive place. So I choose to deliver my music in a positive form, although it may sound hard and grimy because thats how my lifestyle is and was. Again, it was those 10 years that taught him discipline to stay focused. My work ethic came from being in institutions. I used it to my advantage. I really took the classes that they showed me. I really got my degrees. I really got certified in seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven different trades. Started doing public speaking, working at Planned Parenthood, speaking in front of the Mayor, City Council and stuff like that. You wont hear much about partying and drinking in GBs music because he says he never experienced that. Ive never been to a prom or high-school dance or none of that. From the age of 15 to 25 I was incarcerated, so I dont know what they are talking about [other rappers]. Thats why my music doesnt talk about that, because I never experienced that. I just talk about the real. After his release, GB went through several labels but felt that after losing 10 years of his life, any label that wasted even 2 minutes of his time wasnt worth it. GB is currently signed with On Hit Records out of Stockton, California. His new CD Gotta Have It, soon to be released, is a joy ride of GBs life experience. He describes the CD as hard and emotional. GB says his personal philosophy is Time is no mans friend. GB is definitely using the time he has left well. For booking and/or more info contact GB at www.onhitrecords.com
