What Became, The New Story of Post Bliss
by: Emily Woesthoff
After being together for less than two years, Post Bliss has accomplished more than many of their peers. Perhaps this is an unfair comparison since Post Bliss is playing in a totally different league than many other bands that are just starting out. Including four members who have all come from backgrounds of brief stints in local bands that did not pan out, Post Bliss could very well be the next big thing.
Post Bliss is difficult to categorize, their sound encompasses radio-friendly indie rock music with fresh ethereal melodies. Without a specific genre to call their own, Post Bliss ventures into a number of musical territories. Their mature sound encompasses four different musical tastes to offer a musical landscape that reaches far beyond their 20-something years.
A mere six months after their first practice, Post Bliss independently released their debut EP, A Cure With No Disease. The album features five original songs, each exhibits an intricate display of unexpected talent. The entire EP is much more than expected from a band so early on in their career and has a certain quality of professionalism that Post Bliss has become known for in the local circuit.
Fast forward five short months after the album’s Valentine’s Day release, and Post Bliss has already played notable venues such as CBGB’s, The Stone Pony, The Continental, The Empress Ballroom and The Knitting Factory. Post Bliss was named the winner of the 2006 Wear Your Helmet Entertainment Battle of the Bands and were hand picked to play the Kevin Says/Hot Topic Stage at the 2006 Buffalo, NY Vans Warped Tour. They have played with notable acts such as Boy Sets Fire, I Am The Avalanche and Houston Calls. Their biggest accomplishment to date, however, is completing their first DIY east coast tour to Florida and back. Post Bliss financed and booked the entire tour themselves, and executed it without a hitch.
Post Bliss has a sound that is advanced beyond the time they have been together as a band; their music is solid and an original departure from what any other new band is doing today. Post Bliss continues to play throughout the local area, as well as regionally and is currently planning their second tour.
“Post Bliss quickly moving on to conquer the tri-state area and beyond” – ReadJunk.com
“The powerful songs, ‘The Fall’ and ‘Shapeshift’ feature complex guitar melodies that have a hard hitting, memorable sound” – More Sugar Newspaper
“Their youthful exuberance and inherent energy make for a live show beyond spectacle…” – The Aquarian Weekly
