Severed are a 4 piece Thrash Metal band with influences ranging from the old school fretwork of bands like Metallica, Pantera and Slayer, to the new Metalcore sound of bands like Trivium, Chimaira and Killswitch engage.Severed were formed in early 2005 after a conversation about music between Michael Seigal-James and Scott Bennett, then a drummer Liam Bird was asked to join. At the time there were no real ambitions with the band as they struggled with a selection of early covers. After a few months of jamming the band decided to look for a Rythym guitar player, two popped up at once! a friend Joe Seagrave and a year 11 pupil Chris Farrell both played a few sessions with the band, but due to Chris's other band commitments it was felt that he should be left to concentrate on his main band. After around 6 months of covers and a big progression in ability and confidence but as little as two gigs, the band felt it was time to begin writing their own songs, during this time it was decided that Joe was not progressing at the level of the band and that it would be best for both parties that he was given time to improve as a musician. Shortly after this Chris Farrell showed and interest in the band again and he was welcomed to fill the void as a part lead guitar player. After a few months in the band Chris decided to leave becaue of musical differences and gayness lol. After period of time without a 4th member and no real search, AJ from popular local band Dilemma showed interest and has decided to tag a long for the Metal ride, now with the line up complete again, everything is back on track.
The band are now working on a set of songs and looking to record a demo in the coming months.
