About Me

This space is a tribute to a man who wasn't just a Mobo winner, or part of the boogie bunch but who is a father, partner, son, brother, cousin, nephew, and friends to thousands who had the honour of meeting him - DJ SWING. He was probably a lot more things to other people including being a saviour. This picture is how i wish to remember him, so ironic that the rainbow.......a sign of hope is behind him. Listen to Swings favourite songs and lets remember him.The African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust (ACLT) was established on June 2nd 1996 by Beverley De-Gale and Orin Lewis, the parents of former Leukaemia sufferer Daniel De-Gale.At that point Beverly De-Gale, had to get more black people on the bone marrow register to help save her son who had a successful bone marrow transplant and is now making the most of his life. Since, Beverly seeing the seriousness of the odds and lack of knowledge and ignorance amongst the black community has spent her time rasing awareness for the ACLT.When Swing was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2003, he, his family and friends took up the fight to raise awareness in hopes to save his life.Swing's campaign helped save others who had also been waiting for a bone marrow transplant but sadly not himself.Everyone that knew him says that for someone who was in such a desperate situation, would never have guessed that he could be dying. He had so much life, could light up a room and inspire so many. He rarely showed the illness was getting him down.DJ Swing's talents are not only used to tear up dancefloors up and down the country, but he has been a key music industry executive, helping to build todays UK urban landscape when hip hop, r&b, and soul music was having little impact on the charts, Swing has worked alongside artists ranging from the Queen of soul, Mark J Blige to the crazy Wu Tang Clan.Other people who was inspired from Dj Swing, is MTV Base Lounges CLK, SonyBmg's Reggie Styles, BBC1 xtra's Manny Norte and many others. When talking to Swing, he told me, if he survived this, people would stop fighting and forget and that he would have to die to make a difference..... I so hoped he would be wrong. They say the good die young too....... I never wished so hard that Swing could prove that wrong.Don't let his death be in vain................ If you didn't help before for whatever reason........... Help Swing now by carrying out his wishes and help raise awareness for other families that are going through this. www.aclt.org.Message to a true angel and soldier.........................WE LOVE YOU....... R.I.P Brian Daley aka DJ Swing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
