I am here for Friends

About Me:

Maybe I'm in denial, but I don't try to be cool. I'm just me. Everyone's different and that makes life interesting. I'm not a bad girl, and I'm not a good girl, hehe. I'm an eye and ear candy junky. I'm geeky over web design and technology. I'm an introvert, weee. There's no way around that (unless alcohol is involved). I've never been a social butterfly, so making this profile and talking so much about myself seems really weird. People say I'm quiet, but I'm not a snob. Some people get off on labelling me because I'm quiet. It's not really that I'm shy, just don't like to talk about myself so much. I'm a great observer and listener. So kill me... Hang out with someone who won't shut up and then you'll appreciate me, hehe. I'm too sensitive and introspective, but it's not in a self damaging sort of way. I do have my pride, hehe. I can be very stubborn sometimes. I'm 95% vegetarian. I say 95% because I make exceptions and eat a teeny bit of turkey for thanksgiving, and also if someone has prepared dinner and I'm a guest, I'm not going to make a fuss and waste whatevers been prepared. That defeats the purpose... Ehh is that enough about me? My likes and dislikes can take over from here.

I'd Like to Meet:

You (Can't leave You out, now can I?)

Old friends I haven't seen in awhile. June, Helen, Angie, Jen, Kelly from school. I miss my horseback riding friends so much. We were so bad and had so much fun. Betsy, Kristen, Michelle (I need to call you woman!), Audrey, Thomas, Todd, Linda, Sarah, Pam, Kelly, Stacy, Amity... I miss all you guys so much.

People who possess some(or all!) of the following qualities: Kind, open-minded, smart, funny, independent, free-thinking, musicians (but scared of the band spam!), people from different cultures (bad english is OK!). I'll leave the rest up to your discretion and fate.

Music:

I grew up on stuff like Skinny Puppy, Dead Kennedys, Fugazi, Sonic Youth, Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, Boredoms, Beastie Boys, Black Flag, Aphex Twin, Autechre, Wumpscutt//Haujobb, Nitzer Ebb, KMFDM, Meat Beat Manifesto, Primus, Front 242, Font Line Assembly.

Now I listen to ALOT of different stuff. I really don't like labels, they never seem to fit. But I have a mix of industrial, IDM, electronic noise, electronic instrumental, zheul, various forms of kei (indie, noise, shibuya, ghoul... not so much the visual kei), jhiphop, some traditional music. The only stuff I really don't like is country, preachy vocals, and acoustic guitars (ouch!).

I love music, but also enjoy quiet (or as close to as you can get with computer hum). I love the sounds of crickets, bullfrogs, treefrogs, rain, thunder, heavy falling snow...especially while falling asleep. I think I get this from nostalgia from my childhood home.

You can see what I listen to if you check out my last fm listening stats .

Recent:

Artists Last Week:

Movies:

Too many... as long as it's kinda strange or has a decent plot I'll watch it.

Bodies of Work:

Takashi Miike movies (Fudoh, Koroshiya Ichi, Audition... ), Tadanobu Asano movies (Koroshiya Ichi, Love and Pop, Shark Skin Man...), Yosuke Kubozuka movies (Go, Madness in Bloom, Laundry...), Shunji Iwai movies (Swallowtail Butterfly, Lily Chou Chou, Picnic... )Johnny Depp movies (Ed Wood, Dead Man, etc etc...)

Other Movies

avalon, 3 iron, azumi, il mare...

I'm sure I'll think of more.

Movies I'd watch over and over as a kid

Goonies, Lost Boys, Labyrinth,

Television:

I don't watch TV really. Everything I've liked is over or canned (Angel, Firefly, The Lone Gunmen, Xfiles, Twin Peaks, Kids in the Hall). Family Guy is funny, but I don't watch it. I don't want to watch sports, buy shit, eat out, or become a hypochondriac so it doesn't do much for me.

I watch korean and japanese drama series. These aren't like season-long episodic things. They are short and sweet, in most cases only lasting 10 episodes. Korean dramas tend to be longer and drawn out.

I used to watch some anime. My favorites were Lain, Berserk, One Piece, Guu to name a few.

Books:

I read books, online articles, webzines, web development references, manga scanslations, manuals, novels, and slowly reading japanese material.

The only manga I keep up with is Berserk and One Piece since hopefully the series aren't ending anytime soon.

In High School I read the crap out of some Piers Anthony. In particular I liked his shorter series Incantations of Immortality and Bio, although most of his work was great. I also read Tad Williams novels. Clockwork Orange was also a great novel I wrote a paper on in high school. No recently read novels are anything to mention.

I'd like to read more novels, but don't have the time. Or won't make the time.
