About Me

What to say about me. Well first I am mainly on this site simply because I discovered that it was a great place to find out about so many bands that normally I would have no opportunity to even hear about. It has also has been a fantastic place to network with fellow Hab fans. Yay for MySpace!
Who am I? Firstly, clearly I am a person who writes a lot of crap that no one is really interested in reading.Workwise: I am a numbers person by trade but I was just promoted to Mgmt. Those silly fools! lol I am excited about the opportunity and the new type of work. I said in an earlier version that there had not been enough stress for my in my current position. That has changed. LOL I have some workaholic issues. I enjoy putting in extra hours at work- I love my job! Perhaps this is a sign that I need to get a life too lol
I try write whenever I am inspired or have the time though "whatccha done lately" is crossing my mind as I say that. Usually things just come to me and I can't force them when they are not there. I write mainly poetry but I also have written some opinionated err.. partisan political articles and I have notes on a few non partisan political /economic topics that I would love to finish. I am starting to try and write more about other topics too though. For practice, I have actually been trying to get down my ideas on relationships, as pessimistic as they may be sometimes. Please feel free to critique or comment on any you see here (see blog) as I could use the feedback. One thing though- don't take all my poems or writings to heart or as facts. I embellish situations sometimes , I picture myself wearing a different hat sometimes and sometimes the stuff that I write has absolutely nothing to do with my real life. (Translation: I talk sh$t most of the time) I am trying to write, not write about me. My best stuff has usually nothing to do with me as emotions tend to make me babble. I would love to be published one day though I haven't yet decided how I would like to go about it.
I am a hockey fan- though mainly a Habs fan (Habs=Montreal Canadiens)- though this may be obvious looking at my MySpace site. (Wait until playoffs!! Yay Habs!!!!)
I can be quite obnoxious on this topic, especially when I was younger and even more of an idiot. Things have changed a fair amount. These days, the schooling does not allow me to be the most informed on the subject, I no longer pick fights with Laffs fans in bars and, my hockey posters remain hidden in my closet but my heart is still with the Habs. I don't play a lot of sports myself- hand eye coordination is not my thing but I enjoy watching it live, occasionally on TV. I still don't understand what is the point of American football or why anyone would voluntarily go watch golf or lawn bowling.
I LOVE debating! :) I know the difference between arguing and debating. I have been known to bring up controversial political topics just to see what sort of reaction I would get. I love to discuss/debate politics though I can be very opinionated and that can cause offense. (Sorry!) I am also very patriotic as well so I will always be the proponent for Canada.
I love music. There's a lot of genres that I do like ranging everything from classical to thrash. I typically don't like rap or hip-hop. I have a limit to how much reggae or dub can be forced on me. Though I haven't listened to country for years and years, I don't mind listening to it- I just outgrew it. I mainly listen to rock I think- of some sort or another. I seem to love jazz though I know even less about it than anything else. I really like jazzy pianos, horns and smooth vocals. I never knew there were so many different types of music though till I came across this site. I foresee lots of new stuff in my future. What a great procrastination tool? I should also mention that I am a bit musical as well- I played the cello for many many years and I sing as much as possibly can (I really really suck at singing too btw- glasses have been known to shatter and my cat meows at me to tell me to stop.) I plan to go back to my cello when I am done my accounting designation. Err, I have no plans, desires or even the talent to do this more than a hobby. It just makes me happy, that's all.
What else can I say about me? I love colour and like to decorate. Used to do a lot of artwork too but the schooling does not give me much time.
I am a happy, confident, type A personality and I thoroughly enjoy the fact that Vancouver seems to have lanes on their escalators for type As (The ones who run up the escalator) and type Bs (The ones who stand on the moving stair, admiring shoes and purses, enjoying the peaceful journey. Ahh Vancouver- land of the enormously expensive houses. You have to wonder about a city that makes Victoria look like the housing market is cheap. lol)
If I was to win the lotto, I would probably still work, I'd just take some time off so I could travel the world first. I think that I have jinxed myself from ever winning the Lotto simply because deep down, I am afraid that winning may damage my career opportunities and the Lotto Gods know this and are saying, "hmmm well clearly she does not actually WANT to win so we are not going to give it to her." But it's not true Lotto Gods, I do want to win- I will work out the rest. So please do not make me not win on this account!
Oh and btw, on that subject, I am proud to say that I have made it to this far in my career without having to learn how to type but I need to work on the fact that my spelling is sometimes terrible!
I am a closet romantic. I think I own over 60 chic flics but I also own the Sex in the City series which usually more describes the way I think on the subject. I love movies and books. My favorite book is a fairly unknown book called The Snow Queen by Joan de Vinge. Fantastic book- I never get tired of reading it. My favourite movie changes all the time but Walk the Line is 'up there' right now. I don't pay for cable TV- if I want to watch something, I put on a DVD or stick to the 4 English channels that I get free. I have had my heart demolished more than once so my romantic side is fed by my DVD collection these days. I love humour! I suck at telling jokes but I love to laugh. I love black, Brit humour, sarcasm, the word 'bastard' (just saying it!) and anything else that makes me laugh. The more intelligent the better- I am not the type that gets a kick out of Dumb and Dumber though I am going on an assumption there since I never bothered to watch that movie.
I get embarrassed posting this write up as well as some of my blogs because it makes me feel like a narcissist. I think anyone who reads my poems is going to think that I am insane. lol
I hate mean critical people and expecially the ones who bully. I think they all suck. I have a urge to throw stuff at them or at least tell them off. I have done the latter. I would like to say that I have done the former- fortunately there is still time. I believe thoroughly in great customer service- it drives me crazy when I go to a place that has BAD service. I have been known to tell companies off for it. Especially Telus. Telus is bad. I have switched to Shaw digital telephone and hope to never have to start a phone line through Telus again. BTW I tip when I get good service. And I won't go back to a restaurant where I received bad service.
I HATE being labelled or boxed. It irritates me as does any other form of ignorance. Many years ago, this guy that I really liked a lot gave me a list of requirements that he expected from his girlfriend. Items on the list were 'intelligent', articulate and well-mannered. My reaction was not great. I went through the list, item by item, and described to him how I didn't fit into each item and he dumped me immediately after for not meeting his requirements. The ironic thing though was that 95% of the time, I did meet all of his requirements. I just didn't like being told that I had to be.
I am turned off by, and just don't like being around, people who think that they are hot stuff. Especially when the carrying case is not as great as they seem to think and the insides are worse. And I think that is all that I can think to say about me right now. As you can see, I have always felt that too much info was better than not enough info. Cheers

My Interests

Habs? lol Go Carey! Go Huet! Go Habs Go!

I'd like to meet:

Habs Fans, bands with music that I can enjoy, anyone who wants to discuss/debate/argue politics, other world events or any subject that takes a brain and knows how to do so without making it personal, anyone who likes banter, anyone who likes to insult or trash talk the Habs (you will get an arguement out of it, I promise! lol), and pretty much anyone else who just likes to chat with a gal from Victoria BC Canada.
adopt your own virtual pet!

Music:

Many bands including the Suits XL out of Quebec, Canada (Yay!), "Play" video below: See my friends list for more!

.."425" height="350"

I also really love Birds of Wales.. Here's their video. You should check out their site. I love the Fine Art of Ballet especially- though, because the title is cut off at "Bal" I thought the title was "The Fine Art of Balance" the first few times I heard it lol The lead singer thought I was insane when I emailed him to ask why he would be swimming in Swan Lake (note to people outside of Victoria- we have Swan Lake here! Seeing that I had not realised yet that it was about ballet..lol LOL) Anyway, here's "The Fall of 69"

Television:

Tetris anyone?

Note to all Laff Fans: Don't be stupid enough to add me as a friend if you can not handle me reminding you of the laff's most recent chokes. Look at my site- look at the wonderful red colour. Does it look like I am a Laff sympathiser? Come on now. If you can not handle good natured ribbing about your team, then do not add me so you can delete me as a friend later on. Its rude to delete me because you did not like the response to one of your Laffs are great emails! :)
