Um . . . a lot? Cult classics, cyber punk, splatter punk, anime and sci-fi movies that are so bad, they're hilarious, learning new languages, wigs (no, seriously, they're fun to put on for a couple of hours), protest singers, crooked teeth, six-fingered people, albinism, the black plague, rats, rats, and rodents (I want a pet rat soooooo bad . . .), studying different cultures, photography.
Dorks. I love dorks.
A bunch. Big, huge favorites though are Ween, which is probably my favorite band of all time, Belle and Sebastian, Neko Case, Fiona Apple, X, ELO, David Bowie, Cafe Tacuba, Horrorpops, and John Lennon. I'll listen to just about anything, though. I even have a Tuvan throat-singing punk album from Mongolia. So anything goes for me.
A bunch. Come on now, I work at a movie theater! Lately, I've been watching a lot of Asia Extreme movies because I had this strange fascination with Takashi Miike for a while. Of that genre, these are the few movies I can reccomend:
A Tale of Two Sisters (if you like drama with your horror)
Casshern, which just came out in the US. No need for my Taiwanese DVD now.
Three . . . Extremes
Save the Green Planet, which I highly reccomend.
Uzumaki, which I reccomend highly as well.
Happiness of the Kakakuris
The Quiet Family
Battle Royale
Acacia, up until those last 30 minutes of Americanized doom.
I generally only like to get my dosage of John Stewart and Stephen Colbert. Other than that, I don't quite like my tele.
East of Eden, The Karamazov Brothers, Jane Eyre, Hans Christiean Andersen Fairy Tales, Neverwhere, Good Omens (generally, anything by Neil Gaiman), The Sandman comics, Ventus, Shade's Children, Sabriel, The Deathgate Cycle (seven books), The Ordinary Princess, Circus of the Damned, Fifth Quarter, No Quarter, A Well-Timed Enchantment, Le Petit Prince, The Inferno, How to Loose Friends & Alienate People, Dune, The Hitchiker's Trilogy, and One Bird. I'm not into the manga-anime scene so much anymore, but the few mangakas I'm still interested in are Junji Ito (Uzumaki, Tomie) and Toru Yamazaki (Octopus Girl). I also love Suikoden III and Death Note to death.
Me.
