I have a multitude of interests. I love 80's hair metal and listen to it whenever I get a chance. I actually like most rock in general, though I listen to other genres once in a while. I'm not a country fan at all, nor do I listen to the "Top 40" stuff. I'm also an avid gamer, and I play games of almost all types. I used to be mainly a console gamer, but over the last year I have defected to primarily PC gaming.
I'm a huge fan of mixed martial arts (MMA) as well as a rabid follower of Red Wings hockey. I haven't had as much time to follow them as closely as I used to, but I still try to keep tabs on them. I'm also a Detroit Lions fan, but it's almost comical to see that team perform as lousy as they do year after year. Perhaps they will rise once more. After all, most if not all teams go through the good/bad cycle.
I also like to think a lot about the oddities of peoples' minds. Not enough to be a psych major like some of my friends, but the psych classes that I took in college had me do enough research on things like that for me to develop at least a passing interest. It's quite intriguing to see how people develop weird interests through experiences and other influences. To look at things through the eyes and mind of another...can be scary sometimes, eh?
As far as the MMA interest goes, it is much more than two men (or women) going into the ring or cage to beat each other in hand to hand combat. It is the ultimate expression and proof of one's valor in the heat of combat, as well as a display of great honor between two combatants after the story has been told. Those who show up to the events and boo throughout the show completely miss the point. It is not about violence, it is competition in its rawest, yet purest form. In short, modern day Bushido principles.
I'm open to meeting basically anyone. I have friends with all sorts of different interests, from gaming to martial arts to sports to anime to music...you get the picture.
As far as specific people go (from past and present): Bret Michaels, Steve Yzerman, Nobuhiro Watsuki, Kazushi Sakuraba, Miyamoto Musashi, Bill Watterson, Kawakami Gensai, Rick Allen, Georges St. Pierre, Rikki Rockett, Liu Bei, the people who were part of Working Designs, Zhuge Liang, Andrei Arlovski, Sebastian Bach, warriors from feudal Japan, Zhao Zilong, among many others.
And my favorite MMA fighter of all...
Slayer's Angel of Death in 8-bit glory!
Some people should just not play video games. WARNING: Contains offensive language!!
If it's 80's hair metal or classic rock, I'm probably listening to it. I appreciate almost all kinds of music, though. I am not a fan of country music by any means, but I respect artists from all walks of life and genres.
I don't watch many movies, but anything fantasy or samurai related will probably hook me in.
I don't watch TV outside of sporting events or the Ultimate Fighter. Nothing else really interests me much. I do have a collection of MMA DVDs as well as a huge Beavis and Butthead compilation, though I don't flip through channels. I would like to start a South Park collection sometime.
I hate to say it, but I'm not much of a reader. That's not to say I'm an ignorant person, I just don't read many books.
As sad as it may seem, I really have no heroes. I didn't have any heroes growing up and that has not changed with age. I do like people, but I must grow and make myself my own hero.
