Add to My Profile | More Videos http://www.showcaseyourmusic.com/pandorasrabbitAlice's Adventures in Wonderland is a work of children's literature by the English mathematician and author, the Reverend Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, written under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll. It tells the story of a girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit-hole into a fantasy realm populated by grotesque figures like talking playing cards and anthropomorphic creatures. The tale is fraught with satirical allusions to Dodgson's friends (and enemies), and to the lessons that British schoolchildren were expected to memorize. The Wonderland described in the tale plays with logic in ways that have made the story of lasting popularity with adults as well as children. It is considered to be one of the most characteristic examples of the genre of literary nonsense. The book is commonly referred to by the abbreviated title Alice in Wonderland. This alternate title was popularized by the numerous film and television adaptations of the story produced over the years. Some printings of this title contain both Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There.Contents [hide] 1 History 1.1 Publishing highlights 2 Synopsis 2.1 Chapter 1: Down the Rabbit-Hole 2.2 Chapter 2: The Pool of Tears 2.3 Chapter 3: A Caucus-Race and a Long Tale 2.4 Chapter 4: The Rabbit Sends in a Little Bill 2.5 Chapter 5: Advice from a Caterpillar 2.6 Chapter 6: Pig and Pepper 2.7 Chapter 7: A Mad Tea Party 2.8 Chapter 8: The Queen's Croquet Ground 2.9 Chapter 9: The Mock Turtle's story 2.10 Chapter 10: The Lobster Quadrille 2.11 Chapter 11: Who Stole the Tarts? 2.12 Chapter 12: Alice's Evidence 3 Themes 3.1 Major themes 3.2 Language/word play 3.3 Other Themes 4 Characters in order of introduction 4.1 Misconception of characters 4.1.1 Character allusions 5 Contents 5.1 Poems and songs 5.2 Tenniel's illustrations 5.3 Famous lines and expressions 6 Symbolism in the text 6.1 References to Mathematical Ideas 6.2 References to the French Language 7 Cinematic adaptations 8 Live performance 9 Criticism 10 Works influenced 11 Culture and collecting 12 Media 13 See also 14 Notes 15 References 16 External links
