About Me

Formed in early 2004 as a rock band derived from Celestial Ecstacy, the lineup of Sapphire initially comprised Carlo Armendariz, The Duke & Roland Garcia. While writing/recording new music & playing the circuit in northern New Mexico the trio released "The Virgin Album" in July 2004, an 18 song compilation with various special appearances. Through out the years, Sapphire's songwriting team, Armendariz/Vigil have written over 100 songs along with the contributions of Roland Garcia. Sapphire has mainly been a trio but recently have picked up new players the last 2 years. Rhythm guitarist/singer Rudy DeVargas joined the group January - Febuary 2005. Percussionist Omar Salla joined the group as the conguero in the percussion section January - March 2005. Percussionist Abdul Soud Joined the band as a new addition to the percussion section April - November 2005. Rhythm guitarist/singer John Tercero joined the band, June - December 2005. April 2005 through December 2005 the band worked on their ep ""Crazy Lover" They wrote & recorded the record in The Celestial Studio, La Cieneguilla N.M. along with various friends/artists that contributed to the record, such as; Margarett Wrathemell (vocals on Eli), Young Black (Rhymes on S.F. Shorty), Matt C.T. (Turn Tables on Eli), & Elisa Bourgett & Ashlee Thomas (Vocals on S.F. Shorty). In January 2006 Sapphire released the two new songs on myspace, "Crazy Lover" & "Santa Fe Shorty" Sapphire went on holiday Spring/Summer 2006 to work on personal projects etc... & re-grouped July 2006. The Band now is currently giging in the northern New Mexico music scene and working on new material for a new fresh show for the scenses.img src=http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j43/Sapphire333/Sapphi retag.jpg
