GOOSE BLIND HISTORY IN THE MAKING
In 1891, The Lake View Hotel was built on the corner of Gold and Hill St. Construction of our current building began in 1962, and upon its completion, the original hotel was torn down. What is now our building, a modern tavern began its operation. In 1977, Ed and Jackie Liedtke bought the building as an absentee owners, and the business was run by their cousin. The Liedtkes named it after a favorite bar of theirs in Iowa, called The Duck Blind. As geese are more popular in our area, the bar was thus named The Goose Blind.In 1985, Mary Rowley purchased The Goose Blind from the Liedtkes. The bar was remodeled and in April 1986 a pizza kitchen was added in the basement, and thus started serving homemade pizza. In February of 1987 the expansion began as Rowley Construction added ten feet to the front of the building making the bar larger and entryway. Twenty feet was added to the rear of the building to accommodate a new kitchen, and sixteen feet to the north of the building was added for the dining room, with a seating capacity of 70. An entire upper level was added to accommodate a banquet facility and entertainment area.The dining room opened on April 30, 1987, offering a menu with an array of choices. The upper level opened on June 5, 1987 with the ability to offer live entertainment and accommodations for private parties of 20 to 225 people.In October of 1998, the upstairs banquet area was remodeled. The dance floor was moved and an extensive light show was installed adding to the ambiance that only the Goose Blind could offer the Green Lake area. Carpet was put in adding elegance to the banquet room experience. The most recent renovations took place last spring, a face lift began by adding siding, awnings, new lighting, our new Goose Blind sign on the building, as well as the new Goose Blind corner sign out front. On the inside, bar stools, new chairs and a revamping of our menu took place, changing the whole atmosphere of our customers experience.Its time that we Toot Our Own Horn when we are talking to our customers. Let them know that we are one of the ..1 restaurants in the State of Wisconsin. We were named in the Whos, Who of the top 100 bars in the State.
