About Me

So I guess this is where I have the opportunity to explain who I am, but I dont believe anyone can be truly introspective about themselves in a box like this. The most important thing to me is honesty, it is something that is centered around all of our actions and behaviors. I have very positive long term goals for myself both in my career aspirations as well as my overall well-being. I am a double major in business with focus in management and marketing and a second major in psychology with a double minor in sociology and political science. As you can probably already see, I love to learn and experience new things and ideas. I am very openminded; and VERY political. Some say that if I took one step to the left that I would fall off the face of the earth. I tell those people, "Hey i'll take that step if the air is cleaner, that world isnt run by big business, gay marriage would be legal, universal healthcare would be available to all, equality and justice would TRULY prevail", which I think could all be possible without the Bush Dynasty slowly deteriorating the true American image and our economy. I absolutely value diversity, I think it is what makes life interesting, for if we cannot learn from our differences and accept each other, conflict would be prevalent. I am currently working on an honors thesis as well in the area of Industrial and Organizational psychology which is research which I hope will revolutionize diversity in the workplace. My career aspirations are also in I/O psychology and I have been working in a lab for five semesters now. I also just got a job as a peer tutor in the Educational opportunities Program so if you ever need any help with your schoolwork I am here for you. Unselfishness only makes you a more loving and strong person both in interpersonal relationships and in loving yourself.I had a rough childhood. My parents divorced when I was very young and I was pretty much forced to grow up fast and become independent. It is good in the sense that I foster and realize my own strengths but it can become negative when I try to take on too much and dont ask for help. I grew up in a town full of very pretentious and affluent people that always seemed to know how to make me feel inferior. I guess I always felt the need to "keep up with the Jones'" which again, can be good in the sense that I developed a strong sense of self motivation geared towards success but negative that I tend to compare myself to others a lot. I eventually came out to my parents, recieved a mixed reaction, got involved in some negative , self destructive behaviors and got sent to a very strict boarding school. It was good because I met some great people that I continute to speak with today and whom I love and trust but bad in the sense that my sexuality always seemed to define who I am. Thats a very important thing about me. My sexual orientation DOES NOT DEFINE ME. It is merely whom I feel attracted to intimately and sexually. It has NOTHING to do with my personality, my mannerisms, my interests, or anything along those lines. And I have all kinds of friends that consist of and are not limited to: homosexual, heterosexual, bisexual, transexual, female, male, black, white, red, orange, yellow. This can go back to emphasizing my point on diversity...and learning to understand and live peacefully with one another. Some people say I have two sides to me. No, not in the schitzophrenic I need to be committed and on medications kind of way but more in my evolution of interests. My social life is very important to me!!! I love to go out, dance and drink the night away with friends at some point during the week. Unfortunately, I do have an addictive personality and smoke cigarettes. In taking seven classes and having a job I greatly appreciate the value of a good time with good people and I dont think 21 credits will every leave me without the stress to be able to quit smoking. I AM ADDICTED TO TRAVEL. Learning and witnessing the integration of different subcuultures and cultures is of great interest to me. I have been to 13 countries in Europe and didnt waste a second of my time in the hotel and I dont even think I slept. The value of that experience was that I delved directly into the culture and threw myself out there as a sponge willing to be openminded towards other people's experiences and LISTEN with an open ear rather than open my mouth and preach my own values. I am grateful for the many people I have met over there and continue to keep in touch with.I love my friends in albany, nyc, long island, the rest of the United States and all around the world. I DO NOT have a top 20 because you're all in my heart...held equally but in different reverance for the amazing things that each of you have brought into a friendship with me. I think a thank you in my "about me" is much more valuable than being a mere number in a "top 20".(and you all should know who you are) To my friends I bring an unselfish attitude and am always willing to help them through the many obstacles we face...not by pushing them through but rather by taking their hand and guiding each to his/her own individual successes. I also love my family and my little brother who is 13 years old. I thank them for all they have done for me.In the future, as I said I am applying to many different graduate schools for Industrial/Organizational Psychology and I would like to get my doctorate (PhD). I am also a member of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychologists and I hope to present my honors thesis there next year standing and standing on that podium would be a dream come true. It would be great to meet other people interested in the same field as me as well. I am always open for good discussion. In the end, it is not the historical causes that have made me who I am today, but rather the proximate decisions and personality attributes that evolve over time. (if you can truly grasp this and dont know me already PLEASE contact me!!!) I always say to "aspire to inspire, before you expire", for I believe it to be very true that you have lived a great life if you impact one single person in a profound way. I do not know if I have done that but I hope that I have and if I have not than I hope too. This is obviously not everything "about me". Take a chance if you'd like and feel free to get to know me more. :)

I'd like to meet:

I think that many of us would love to meet the true mirror image of who we are and I agree with this statement to some extent because there would be a lack of conflict. However, I take a different approach and would love to meet anyone who might be different in the sense of personality, interests etc. The key however, again, is HONESTY. Ill marry an asshole over a liar any day of the week. Intelligence and a good heart is also highly valued in my book :)My New Bedtime Prayer WILL YOU BE THE ONE TO ANSWER IT???Music Lyrics and Music Videos
