Hooray for Green Tea :)

About Me

My name is Greg. I live in the Long Beach/Westminster area of Southern California. I enjoy dance music, going to the beach, working out, talking with friends, etc etc. I enjoy thinking about philosophy and computer systems - I am a computer science major. I believe learning computer systems can teach us a lot about ourselves and our thoughts and actions. I believe in destiny, that free will as merely an illusion, that karma exists in many forms, and that nothing can occur without the presence of a cause. I like deep-thinking.
Imagine a world where all humans sudddenly disappear from the face of the planet. Now imagine you are the only one alive, a ghost in a world that once existed, but now will spend millenia forfeiting its man-maintained upkeep to the power of nature. And as you wander aimlessly through the streets of cities, entering convenience stores for food and water and pissing and shitting wherever you feel like it, you see buildings built by man. The lights are still changing colors, going from green to yellow to red, then back to green again. The plants are held captive against a will we barely understand exists, only to please the captive human eye with something he has been taught is beautiful. There are cars, but none are moving. Some have gone astray and crashed into buildings, poles, and other various man-made objects. Billboards line the streets for Crest toothpaste, Cingular cell phones, and Hanes brand products. As said in my headline, at least what had existed as of 3:14am on September 5th, 2007, "Nothing matters in life, but since we have time, we may as well pretend something matters, and some people hold that something so deeply inside that they forget who they are." What we call progression is merely an illusion. What we call evil is really just an illusion. What we call life is merely just an illusion.
I came across this video while studying for a Biology exam and I couldn't help post it somewhere. It's the craziest thing I've ever seen. ...and what's even crazier is that now I understand what's happening. Check it out for yourself (you can skip the boring man at the beginning) .Protein Synthesis in the 1970's:
GREGORY
Gender: Masculine Usage: English Pronounced: GREG-or-ee [key]
From the Latin Gregorius, which was from the late Greek name Γρηγοριο&sigmaf ; (Gregorios), which was derived from γρηγορος (gregoros) meaning "watchful, alert". This was the name of several saints including three Fathers of the Church: Saint Gregory Thaumaturgus (3rd century), Saint Gregory of Nyssa, and Saint Gregory of Nazianzus (both 4th century). This was also the name of 16 popes, including Gregory I, who was known as Gregory the Great.
The most incomprehensible thing about the world is that it is at all comprehensible.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Those I can call friends without being physically attracted to who use real-life facts to question, and perhaps answer, some of the many questions about religion, psychology, culture, economics, and politics. Essentially, to sum it up, I want friends who are realists and realize where this country is headed. I need friends who THINK and can share perspectives with me in a friendly way. To be honest, I have not found anyone in Southern California worthy of this expectation. Maybe we just haven't communicated enough. Danny S and I spoke awhile back and the conversation seemed rather biased toward liberal extremism, and I am being blunt. Regardless, we do need people with these extreme liberal views to surface issues that many conservatives seem to sweep under the rug, so to speak. I cannot speak for the world because I have not seen it all, but I can speak from my perspective. When I am wired on caffeine I tend to articulate much better...and when I come back from smoking hooka I tend to write better essays and papers (and to anyone reading this against tobacco, in moderation, it is alright. Hooka contains much less tar than an average cigarette, so don't jump to assumptions about how deadly it is or whatever. However, when huge tobacco corporations are in charge of the cigarette industry (totally unrelated to the hooka industry), they make their products deadly and addictive, which I have problems with, which if I had someone to discuss this from a non-biased perspective, we could further educate ourselves) I have much to say and often I am too tired to say those things. I realize I haven't traveled much and have lived in California all my life, so my views may be rather limited. I am working on a B.S. in Computer Science and hopefully I will have it completed by the end of Spring 2009. I may spend a few weeks or months in California and plan on taking a trip to Northern California, but I'd like to shorten my stay as long as I can. Southern California sickens me. The best metaphor I can think of at the moment is people say they are sheeps (many Christians), but are wolves in disguise (the hate that spews from their tongues against homosexuality is worse than vile). "Go home fags", "Bad parents raise bad children", "God hates fags". I cannot even begin to describe how horrible some of the words are that have been yelled through megaphones at me by those who consider themselves "Christians". Personally, I want to take a knife or sword to those who spew hateful words like that and kill them. I stand up for what I believe is right, and I feel that most people do. Anyways, I seem to have diverged from the topic of the "I'd like to Meet" section. In one sentence, I'd like to meet someone who understands and shares similar interests as I do. Thanks Marc, Eric, and Greg M. Also, I hope to visit you sometime soon Greg K. and Maribel. Keep in touch when you have free time.
