I am here for Friends

About Me

Check out my website about my travels: www.kylewebpage.comTwo years ago I was on the corporate track working for one of the biggest companies on earth, making good money and had a promising career and a steady girlfriend. And then I thought to myself, "when I was a kid in grade school teachers would tell me to work hard so I can get in a good high school (this was in China where it's competitive as hell), and when I got in high school (in the states) my advisors stressed good grades and extracurricular activities are absolutely critical in order to get in a good university. When I got in the Honors College at the university and the business school everyone tells me to get good internships so I can get a good job offer...and when I'm in a respected corporation there's all that pressure to climb the latter and become a VP or director as soon as possible SO that I could retire early. Is this the way I want to live the best years of my life? Pursuing some arbitrary goal made up by our society? To waste away my life so that I could retire early? Where can I go when I'm 45 with two kids and a house to pay plus their college education?I want to live my best years to the fullest and see the world. So here I am travelling and bumming around the world for the past 20 months. This is my life - living off my rucksack, waking up everyday not knowing what adventures waiting for me, meeting people from all corners of the world, learning about myself in ways I would've never imagined, discovering how little it takes to be happy, enjoying and appreciating every moment.Start of my trip: November 6th, 2003 - New Zealand 2.5 mths Australia 2.5 mths Indonesia 1 mth Singapore 2 wks Malaysia 4 wks Bali, Indonesia 1 mth Thailand 3 wks Myanmar (Burma) 1 mth Hawai'i working and surfing 6mths Oregon home for 3 wks Peru 1 mth Bolivia 1 mth Argentina 10 days Chile 1 wk California 4 days Thailand 2 wks Cambodia 10 days Vietnam 1 mth Laos 2 wks Thailand 1 wk Bali, Indonesia 6 wks India 6 wks Pakistan 4 wksCurrently I'm in Beijing, China.
