It ain't about what they call you. It's what you answer to.

About Me

I'm not as fucked up and confused as I used to be.

I guess that one could call me EXTROSPECTIVE. Meaning that I process most things by talking them out. I have a strong and mutually supportive inner circle of friends that is pretty exclusive, but then there are a ton of people that I consider to be close friends and "fun" friends. I tend to come off a little strong sometimes. I ask hard questions of people when I meet them. I guess I just want to see if you are conscious or just drifting.
I'm very idealistic, and, therefore "have a problem with authority". I'm great in almost any social situation that does not fighting animals. I'm very passionate, especially when it involves creative expression. Yeah yeah yeah, I'm a musician. I play all kinds of things and write music for film and television. I'm also a third generation upright bass player. Currently, and I hope for a long time, I'm The Technical Director for the Cultural Arts Center in Carrollton, Ga. So my days and nights find me producing all kinds of plays shows concerts showcases Etc... I LOVE my work so much that I barely notice it when I put in 60 hours.

I collect - therefore I am. Vinyl, books, movies, instruments, paintings, photos, clothes, jewelery, antiques - I'm addicted to acquirement. That kind of messes me up sometimes, but then again - I have the perfect gift for you!
I love being surrounded by friends, and I'm the kind of friend that people usually keep for life. I've let my heart be broken... too many times...I'm really trying to not let that happen again. I do always bounce back, and try to find the lessons hidden in some of the most messed-up situations. I'm a single dad, and my daughter is the greatest light my life has ever known. She's currently going to school in Taos, NM where I lived for quite some time. Not having her here with me 100% of the time is the hardest thing that I've had to deal with. I do have her on all of the vacations 'though and that's good.
Hmmm...what else? I yawn when I'm nervous or tired. I like the nightlife. I want to boogie. I don't understand what with a nation full of zealots and crazies, why Son-of-a-Bush and the Dick still walk the earth. I never underestimate the apathy of the American public, nor the power of stupid people in large numbers. I wish I had... something, but I'm not sure what that would be right now. I think eggs are a much demonized source of protein. I know a blasphemous answer to the age old question "what's black and white and red all over." I want you to leave me your record collection in your will. I can hold my breath for a long time. I can almost always unravel a Slinky. I can laugh just like scooby-doo, and imitate a siren well enough to disturb a marta bus driver. I've got a caterers kitchen, and I'm not afraid to use it.

My Interests

Kissing!!! Passions, What's at our core that pushes us to be who we are and are to be?- Making music- collecting old (or new) records- going to estate sales and seeing what someone held on to until the very end- Talking to people that I haven't seen in years- throwing parties and events that people remember for the rest of their lives- small dinner parties that have me sequestered in the kitchen for hours on end just so that when we sit down to eat we're having a meal that we couldn't possibly deserve- feeling sorry for those whose lives come to a crippling halt for sports they don't play (and consoling the women that love them)- Apple martinis with cinnamon on the rim- Having my kid teach me to rollerblade in Piedmont park- Having a daughter who when things are at their worst for me, I can look at and know that I'm doing SOMETHING right - watching great films and stupid movies - that little spot where neck jaw and earlobe become one - SHOPPING (I'm the one straight guy that I know of who can out shop any girl I've met) - Going to new clubs, restaurants, bars, gallerys, sweat lodges, what have you...

I'd like to meet:

Unabashed lovers. My missing piece. A pro-bono masseuse. Passionate single parents.People who face their demons. I really want more people around me that are real enough to be able to talk about real issues even when those issues may be mine or theirs. People who own their lives and take responsibility for the triumphs and problems.

Music:

I write and produce fairly dark sensual downtempo dance/sex music, but I've found myself playing everything from punk to jazz to bluegrass to six deck experimental turntablism. My interests and influences as well as my record collection really leaves no stone unturned (save for the stones that garth brooks and his ilk hide under). One can find anything under my needles depending on my mood: Tricky - Dj Shadow - Bjork - Brazillian Girls - Aphex Twin - Cab Calloway - Sonic Youth - Danger Mouse - Dinah Washington - Can - Public Enemy - Archie Bunker - Esquivel - Portishead - PJ Harvy - Sara Vaughn - Wu Tang - Glenn Miller - Coltrane - Miles - People Under the Stairs - Ursala1000 - Spearhead - Louis Jordan - Siouxsie & the Banshees - Outkast - Tori Amos - Mos Def - Eryka Badu - Jill Scott - The Roots - Madonna - Depeche Mode - Frank Sinatra - Ella Fitzgerald - Clyde McCoy - The Pogues - Lee Perry - Fatboy Slim - RADIOHEAD! - Kraftwerk - N.E.R.D. - Oingo Boingo - Parliment - Bootsy Collins - Deee Lite - Massive Attack - Know Massive - Bagavan Dass - Air - Cibo Matto - Stereolab - Lucious Jackson - Fishbone - and blah blah blah blah........ I'm always wanting to hear what people are doing on their own musicaly and am constantly looking for instrumentalists and vocalists to round out projects. I also listen to my own music more than I probably should, but I am always looking to make it better. That usually happens when I hook up with someone highly opinionated who can tear my work to shreads. Every now and again I have to have my perspective shattered so that I can move up to the next level.
