DJ Rob Bankz, born 1981 in Düsseldorf, Germany, is one of the most promising upcoming Djs right now in the german battle-circuit as well as the german club-scene.
Growing up within the Skateboarding culture, he managed to build himself a nationwide name as a talented skateboarder with high contest placings and various magazine appearances in the late 90s due to his exceptional ambition.
After a serious injury in 2000 , he decided to quit his skateboarding career, and dedicated himself fully to his other big passion Music.
Always being fascinated by Djing and Turntablism-culture, he copped his own pair of decks in 2001 and started to practice.
Rob learned very quickly on the 1 and 2s, collected more and more vinyl and started to spin at local clubs, where his abilities got recognized by other Djs, club owners & promoters, leading him to play club gigs all around germany, as well as supporting international artists like DJ Vadim, Jedi Mind Tricks, U-God (Wu-Tang-Clan), Samy Deluxe, Olli Banjo, Killah Priest, Khia, Dru Hill and many more, while he was still working steadily on his scratching and beatjuggling skills in his bedroom.
In 2003 he started sessioning with Rafik & Kid Fresh (Lordz of Fitness) on a regular basis, cause they were literally neighbors.
Motivated and inspired by their worldwide success within the worldwide dj battle-scene, he practiced even harder, measured on the high standards of his environment, starting to discover his possibilities and setting his goals higher and higher.
In early 2004, rob started to compete at dj-battles. He directly won his first competition, a scratching challenge held by one of the biggest DJ equipment manufacturer VESTAX on europe´s biggest music exhibition pro light & sound, leaving 20 competitiors from all around germany behind him.
In the same year he managed to be a finalist at both major german DJ battles ITF & DMC, and in 2005 he even placed second at the national ITF scratching Battle, right behind the champion DJ Unkut, who became the european champ as well as 2nd in the world finals later that year. Rob is also a teacher at DMC DJ School.
In 2006, he became part of the most promising upcoming german DJ crew (The EXODUS) right now, alongside DJ Unkut, AKD and DJ Pro-Zeiko. In 2007 Rob Bankz owned the GERMAN TEAM CHAMPION 2007 Titel and Vize at The WORLD DMC FINALS In LONDON!!
