About Me

PRINCESS OF DA BLOCK BIOGRAPHYGrowing up in the southern part of Greensboro, North Carolina Davina cherished the hip hop culture and all that it had to offer, but felt as if the rap game was missing something. That something was a fresh female rap artist and not the average sex symbol female rap artists that were being played on the radio and on TV. At the age of 15 Davina started to study the habits and the styles of female rappers such as Foxy Brown and Lil Kim and felt as if all of the female rappers had the same type of style. With that said Davina decided that she would try to become a positive female rapper considering the fact that she didnt have any interest in anything else except for the rap game. At the age of 16 she tried a shot at the rap game by joining a rap group out of Winston Salem, North Carolina (she was the only female in the group of 3). She later left the group because she felt as if she would do better as a solo artist. Not having much knowledge about the whole rap industry, Davina did what she could with the knowledge that she did have by writing rhymes and getting into studios recording for her demo. In 2004 Davinas name was marinating in the streets due to the fact that some of her songs from her demo had got out in the streets. Since her name was getting out in the streets and on the block, she decided that her rap name should be Princess of da Block due to the fact that she was the only female rapper whose name was talked of in the streets of Greensboro, North Carolina. Davina Lee P also became another one of her names in the streets. Today, Davina Lee P aka Princess of da Block still continues to do her thing in the streets and plans to drop her first mixtape this summer. Her first single will be Shake It Fast followed by the remix with Brandon D, The North Kak Representative. In 2006 Davina got an opportunity to be a contestant on a series called “Making The Station” at a local radio station (102 Jamz). Davina quickly took the opportunity and ran with it. She battled for several weeks until her time was up. Davina still countinued to visit the radio station to check out the freestyle battles. On one particular night, she was approached by Waleed Coyote, a radio personality and the founder of Othaz records. He told Davina to stick around after the battle to talk with him about something. After the battle, Waleed spoke with Davina and felt as if she possibly had what it took to be in the hip hop industry. Davina immediately let Waleed know her passion for hip hop and understood that It would take time to build her. Waleed would listen to different tracks by Davina and would tell her all the right and wrong things that he heard in the songs. As the determined artist that Davina was she listened to his advice and changed her rap style to better herself. With a lot of support from many artists and producers Davina now represents Othaz records to the fullest. Davina has worked with producer Kory L of Othaz/Universal on her hit single “Must Be The Shoes” off her mixtape intitled “The Block Is Mine Vol. 2", which will be out late December 2006. Davina is currently working on “Must Be The Shoes” Remix and “Booty Roll” feat. P-wonda. Davina recently finished up her video for “Must Be The Shoes”, which was directed and edited by Troy Jones who had the number one played video on BET’s uncut and VH1.Video Shoot For "Must Be The Shoes"
