Update time!
Upon the insistence of just about everyone, here is my brand new "life update". There is a test at the end so no napping.
First and foremost, my son Lucian is now a strappin' young man, a formidable 13 year old, without all that awful teen baggage that most of us had to suffer through. I am so proud of him and what he's achieved in his young life and he is nothing but a constant source of joy in mine. Watching him grow up has been a real amazing journey, one that I would never trade for anything. It has transformed me and made me know where my place in this world is. Lucian, you're AWESOME!
And speaking of love, let me tell you a little bit about mi amor, my cabbage, Ms. RQ Bella. We first met many moons ago in college and struck up a cool friendship that involved many bad cafeteria meals and lengthy conversations. Over the next 25 years, I would catch little snippets of her here and there, but opportunity never crossed my path. But late last year, I recieved this missive, a sweet note from out of the blue, asking if I still remembered her. Remembered her? I thought about her it seems like every week in those intervening years, so it was an total kick in the shorts to hear from her. And one thing led to the proverbial next and now I am smitten with this woman, just head-over-heels in love and any spare time I just want to spend with her, making a fine dinner, having an Anchor Steam, watching some vintage film noir and enjoying the fine art of living. Thank you for making my life full and a joy to live mi repollo, I soooo adore you!
Right there, written above, is 90% of my life. In addition, in what tiny morsel of free time I have, is spent collecting records and listening to them and trying to squeeze in as much reading in any spare moment. Moved at the beginning of Febuary to a cool new house in South Land Park, got lots of elbow room and a nice neighborhood to roam around in. Doesn't hurt that there's a great Thai resturant and a full grocery store right across the street and a library two blocks away. Sweet perks, as they say.
Like to give a big ol' "howdy!" to my best buddy, Brian aka the Blazestriker for his continued friendship over the last, geez...28 years! He's been there thru thick and thin, helped me and Lucian out by giving us a sanctuary after my divorce. Our Ebay business has just hit the 1000 feedback mark and what a fun and crazy trip that has been. Looking forward to our 2000th!
As you, the gentle reader, can tell, I'm really, really into music. Been playing in bands since I've been 15 and collecting LPs since that same time. Now I've got an LP and a couple 7"ers that I play on under my belt and I have a garage filled with about 9000 LPs and about that many CDs. Been wrting about music going on 20 years for a variety of folks like the Sac News & Review and Pulse! Magazine. Done a ton of press for friends in bands and would always like to do more. Now it looks like I will be a regular contributor to the Midtown Monthly, starting asap and I hope you can check out my rantings/ravings. It'll make you chuckle. Or guffaw. One or the other.
If I were to list all the great people and all the cool bands that I've had the pleasure to meet and know over the years, it would cripple my claws. So, if you are in my 'friend's" space, then you are indeed a friend. And yeah, there's always room for more fine people in my life. So drop me a line sometime. I promise I'll tell you all about the latest Nurse With Wound LP. It's a doozy.
