I have been called a poser, but really we all pose, it is the people in denial of posing that really bug me... But I like to play my bass, deconstruct clothing, I am an activist, not to save the world but to try and make it a better place, I enjoy the company of my friends, I love seeing live music with real musicians and not just someone over a turn table, theater is always good, singing in a car, and playing rugby (I like this one a lot, though alas, I don't get to do it that much any more, long story...)and my ladies, my favorite ladies...
Charles Bukowski and Hunter S. Thompson, Orson Scott Wells, and as many Scotch and Single Malt makers as I possibly can...
I just saw David Brown of Brazzaville....small club, under 100 people (which is what it holds, it was packed)I'm still grinning... I recently added to my collection of music a ton of albums that I am trying to get through. But I did recently add The Gothic Archies, Devastations, and a Modest Mouse and Postal Service, and Pantara to my collection. It is all good music. Besides the new music there is a rotation of the Pixies, Cat Power, Stereo Lab, Quick Space, Pink Floyd, the Ramons. Really anything by Brian Eno (Robert Fripp's 3 minute guitar solo on Baby's on Fire gets me every time) Fiona Apple, A Particularly Vicious Rumor, PJ Harvey, Radiohead, Calexico, Easy Star All Stars, a lot of steam punk, Zofka, Wooden Robot, the list could go on forever... Really, music is everywhere in my house.
Best campy movie--Ghost Rider. OMG (did I just type that) Funny. I was laughing through the whole entire movie. I recommend Children of Men. Fight Club, 5th element, Kill Bill 1 and 2, Barbarella, Faster Pussycat Kill Kill, Cult of the Cobra, Princess Bride, Edward Sissorhands, Beatle Juice, Death Race 2000, 1984, Soylent Green, anything by Tim Burten, Clockwork Orange, The prisoner Series, futurama, SLC Punk, Secretary, Better than Chocolate. I have also decided to add Rocky and Bullwinkle. So in Dudley Doright, have you noticed Nell likes the horse more than Dudley? hmmm interesting.....
I don't watch it except for Sunday night cartoons...or when I can't sleep at night, then I end up watching infomercials...it is crazy what they sell....Hmmm the bullet, you can make anything with it. I have been told it is a good investment, the bullet, the life of the party....
I'm reading a book called Teenage by Jon Savage, it is about the prehistory of the word teenager. It discusses how teenager came to be. The years it covers are 1875 to post WWII. It is kinda cool. He is a wonderful writer. I also have been into sci-fi books again. I recently finished reading Snow Crash (amazing, I couldn't put it down) and am reading the newest Dune books that are written by Frank Herberts' son. It is interesting, so far...My new/old reading list Do Electronic Sheep Dream of Robots Dr. Rat Children of Men Man from MarsTo many to list... but here are a few... omnivore's dilemma by Michael Pollan. Completely fascinating and scary. It talks about where and how your food is produced. You won't look at a grocery store the same way again. I am shuddering just thinking about it. I have been into Frank Herbert lately, but asking me what my favorite book is like asking me to pick my favorite cat. But I do enjoy JD Salinger (nine stories), Aldus Huxley(Brave New World), Molly Ivins, Charles Bukowski(i love all his poetry), Flannery o'Conner(Good Country Folk and Wise Blood) Lolita by Nabokov, Weapons of Mass Deception By Rampton and Stauber and all of the John Drake pulp spy books, just to name a few. Oh I just picked up a book of classic Lesbian pulp fiction, I love it..
Milla Jovonich (sigh...), Helena Bohnom Carter, and Kate Beckensale, Monica and Flasher
