Movies:
i like films that have space in them, that don't fill up every moment with overblown scores with full string sections, crashes, explosions, banal chatter or other commotion. i like films about people dealing with life, and about the way people relate to each other. also, they need to be different from the mainstream in some way, whether by topic, aesthetic, approach to storytelling, casting or whatever. i like movies that depict the emotional/interior lives of Black people. also i love documentaries. some of my favorite films are: george washington, night on earth, ghost dog, the gleaners and i, vagabond, fresh, gloria (1980), born in flames, au revoir les enfants, killer of sheep, mysterious skin, all about eve, stage door, tarnation
