About Me

With over a decade of industry experience as an established electronic dance music DJ, Producer, and Mastering Engineer, Implicit is pushing the envelope of sonic innovation with his technical savvy and uncompromising work ethic. Described as "definitely ready for the big leagues" by URB Magazine, Implicit is continually working to bring his musical brand to new audiences.

Implicit (a.k.a. Matt Daggett) is known for his signature sound, the origin of which is deeply rooted in both his artistic and technical backgrounds. In his early years, he discovered an interest in music, leading to 11 years of formal instrumental training in jazz and classical music performance. Later, his passion for electronics and technology would lead him to complete a degree in Electrical Engineering at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. The integration of these backgrounds formed a hybrid musical endeavor: Electrolife. What started as an artist management and event production entity later expanded to encompass a client-driven audio mastering studio and comprehensive CD production service strictly dedicated to the electronic dance music community and founded on Implicit's emergent expertise.

Outside of the technical realm, Implicit's DJ accomplishments include playing some of the top clubs in the US and Canada and recording over a dozen mix CDs. In 2002, URB Magazine published a glowing review of his CD "Archetype" in their December issue and followed it soon after in 2003 with a full-page feature about the DJ himself. Later that year, "Archetype" would go on to land Implicit the runner-up spot in BPM Culture Magazine's "Next on the Decks" DJ competition. In addition to DJ performances, Implicit has been in the studio honing his skills for publication of future original music production.

Today, Implicit's hybrid career continues to unfold. Technically, he is working to develop new methodologies in Digital Signal Processing as a member of the research staff at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Artistically, he is collaborating on musical development with colleagues worldwide and continuing experimentation with avant-garde performance techniques fusing both live production and traditional DJ mixing.

"He definitely showed skill in the mixing and programming... it won't be long until you see his name gracing some flyers." - BPM Culture Magazine

"...some of the smoothest transitions I've heard in a long while. DJ Implicit sounds tighter than a lot of these big-names types with mixes on major labels. He's definitely ready for the big leagues." - URB Magazine

"...a full on, close your eyes, hands in the air house-head fantasy" - Music Monthly Magazine

"...Implicit dodges and weaves away from the clichés of house... If the majors don't pay attention to this guy, they're really missing out on a guy who could become the next Junior Vasquez." - Smother Magazine
