Bed-Stuy Brooklyn is where it all began for the "out" rapper MC Siya whose fan base grew to heights with in the Lesbian community. Born in 1987 this aspiring superstar grew up in the Eleanor Roosevelt housing projects in Brooklyn which is one of the roughest housing projects of the five boroughs. Raised by her grandmother Michele aka MC Siya began rapping at the age of eight years old while in elementry school through high school she entered all the contest and talent shows in the community which eventually led to performing with a live jazz band as well as her playing the drums. The love of music has kept her focused on her budding career as a lesbian MC. Siya began putting it down while working with her cousin from"Gang Green Ent" his independent lable. While working with him, MC Siya met several important players in the industry including Theo of D-Up Ent & Interscope Records. She performed along with WyClef Jean, Fat Joe & Fabulous during a concert at Nassau Colliseum in Long Isalnd NY. She started doing local college tours during school daze while her cd was being shopped to all the major labels such as Jive, Sony & Uinversal to name a few. After joining up with Toya of Bad Boy records and Zab Judah's label she was offered a featured spot on the popular street "Smack" dvd.At some point in 2003 her original team broke apart however she remains close with Meda and Zab. MC Siya began marketing and managing herself to different venues and promotors in the straight scene and decided to saunter into the Lesbian world where she found acceptance and embracement of a higher form. Siya was 13 years old when she came out as a lesbian and through her music and as an artist she identifies as Siya:The Lesbian MC. Through networking, support of friends and perfoming in one club after another her rep and popularity has grown. MC Siya is ready for the next level her goals are to be the first openly gay female rapper in history (thats recognized by the mainstream) and to be signed to a record label with a promising future.
