If I Can't Dance, It's Not My Revolution!

About Me

A companera, dancer, activist, indy journalist, a lover and a fighter, an admirer of beauty...I have strong beliefs, but I'm always willing to expand my view point and listen to others. I've been through hell and back and prefer to look for the beauty in all things-do my damndest not to judge another cause I know what it's like...and show up for the people and familia I care deeply about and who care about me. I devote much of my time to fighting for justice, always looking for more people to build community with. I'm learning to love my imperfections. I sometimes hide in my work and projects for too long. Life is too short and I am highly driven to accomplish things....could be my fear of death...

What Political Party Do Your Beliefs Put You In?
created with QuizFarm.comMy passions are radical politics, radio, dancing (Bondage a Go Go, salsa, flamenco), cooking vegan/vegetarian food, creating intimate friendships with other like-minded individuals and my family-even when we don't see eye to eye. I find my value in who I am and the actions I take, not the labels I use. I host a college radio show, KUSF, 90.3fm in San Francisco, the 4th Friday 4-6pm of every month called The Local Show-www.kusf.org. I write for Zero Magazine and I'm a reporter for KPFA News and FSRN.

My Interests

Being human, expereincing life and people who can enrich it. Living the revolution: Engaging in critical, meaningful conversations, connecting with people, dancing, radio--community, pirate and college, radical politics, activism, cooking vegan/vegetarian food, astrology, going to punk shows, protests, plays, theater, performance art, making new friends, traveling, films, hiking, reading, feeling, taking bubble baths, and chocolate.

I'd like to meet:

People who inspire me and are inspired by me....those who back up thier words with actions....people who turn thier visions into realities...movers and shakers....people to dream with, debate with, dance with and smash the state with....people who can carry a stimulating conversation, I fancy radicals, dreamers, artists, dancers, activists, vegetarians and vegans, open-minded folks and people in recovery. Not into bullshit-so if you aren't down for the long haul, not into making real friendships or are just about looking cool, don't waste my time.

Resistance is Fertile!

Music:

Punk: SLF-first punk band I ever heard...NoMeansNo, Subhumans, X-Ray Spex, ToyDolls, Conflict, MDC, Crass, and Picasso Trigger..., psychobilly: Demented Are Go, Horror Pops, Kings of Nothin', industrial: Libach, Rev-Co, Ministry, Big Black, oldies: Barbara Lynn, Bretton Woods, other stuff too like Concrete Blonde, Janes Addiction, Firewater, Ozomatli, Gogol Bordello, Kultur Shock, Yat-Kha, The Coup, Dead Prez, and always Cyndi Lauper, Prince, Madonna, salsa and cumbia too and old swing time jazz...Locally I love me some La Plebe, Fuga, Chest Full of Arrows, JTB, Thee Merry Widows, Phenomenauts, F-Space and the Brass Liberation Orchestra.

We Interrupt This Empire, La Femme Nikita, Children of Men, Wild at Heart, David Lynch, Documentaries, Dancemaker-documentary on Paul Taylor-the best modern dance choreographer of the latter 20th century, Foreign Films, Indy films, Richard Kern, Bandit Queen-the life of Phoolan Devi-go girl-kill em all!..

Television:

Set Yourself Free, Trash the TV...

Books:
