Those living in the Mid-West already know the name J-Kidd and the way his song “I’m a Beast†featuring Alpine and Young Holla has been tearing up the local scene, the rest of the country will be finding out about him any minute now. The St.Louis native’s bouncy hit has him on the verge of becoming the next big thing to come out of The Lou. Gliding under the wings of xP Musik LLC. (Who has produced tracks for Tyra B.) with production and management, J-Kidd has the heat your ears want to hear! So make no mistake, the Kidd is bringing unique and original style to the game of Hip Hop that will make an audience constantly press repeat.Eighteen years ago J-Kidd was born Jamar Robinson and raised in St.Louis Missouri. He grew up with three siblings and many cousins on the Southside of Minnesota Street, where he says wasn’t the easiest place to live. His parents were married at a young age which held the bond of family together. Although Kidd has always been close to his father, Arthur Robinson, he chose to pursue a tax free income on the streets which landed him a bid of fifteen years behind bars. The Kidds upbringing is mostly given credit to his mother Janice Robinson and brother Antwan. J-Kidd informs “My mama did what she had to do for us to surviveâ€, his mother was the provider for his family, with the load all upon her shoulders. Like many kids in the inner city his age, Kidd sought to escape and provide a better world with his skills.Early on he took to writing various musings- ghetto raps, anything concerning his environment, family and street life. He is influenced by rappers like Jay-Z, Lil Wayne and TI. “All these rappers brought something new to the game of Hip Hopâ€, says J-Kidd who models his career and skills after these artists. He admires what Jay-Z brought to the game; Jay-Z changed the style of the hip hop in making it fly to wear the suits and button ups. J-Kidd admires the drive and ambition that Lil Wayne possesses, it reminds him of himself. “Lil Wayne sis progressive in his skills; each year he gets better and he raps so comfortably, unlike a rap and more like a lecture,†says Kidd. His admiration for TI is mainly because he is adventurous with his music and doesn’t limit himself to one specific style of music.J Kidd is surrounded by a team that is supported to taking him to the top in his musical career, xP Musik, his production company that is making sure to bring hits to his upcoming album. xP Musik’s members consists of Benvo xP, Yung Ro xP, Fa'non xP and Charlie Brown “I try to keep that cool fly swagger because I am the three F’s, fresh, fly and flashy†says J Kiid. This phrase is where Kiid coined the name for his mix tape titled “Fresh, Fly and Flashy†that is set to release by the end of 2006. J-Kidd also has hits that include “I’m a Beastâ€, “How We Rollinâ€, “Model Chick†and “Stunna Steppin†that will have you bouncing out of your seat.
