About Me

The abridged version: Allison plays the flute. She also writes the music and produces it. Let's see, she was born on November, 27th. She's proud to say that Jimi Hendrix and Bruce Lee were also born on that day. She initially taught herself, then went the classical route, got pretty into that, decided to try something else, started writing, improvising, diversifying...
The longer version: Her classical credits include performances at Carnegie Hall, Weill Recital Hall, CAMI Hall and abroad at the Banff Centre (Alberta, Canada), in Italy and France. She's been the recipient of many awards and winner of various music and concerto competitions. She made her radio broadcast debut on WQXR’s “McGraw Hill’s Young Artist Showcase” with a live performance of Carl Vine's Sonata for Flute and Piano. She has collaborated in concert with bassist Edgar Meyer, flutist Tara Helen O'connor and violinist Daniel Philips. She has worked closely with contemporary composers Seung-Ah Oh and Ushio Torikai in their pieces for flute and guitar and flute solo, respectively.
Other musical projects have brought her to venues like The Knitting Factory, Bowery Poetry Club, Galapagos ArtSpace and Webster Hall, to name a few. She was most recently invited to perform her own works at the Black Women's Art Festival in Philadelphia, PA at the Rotunda. She has spent many hours in the studio recording tracks with producers and recording artists of various disciplines.
As a composer she has written works that include electronics, live instruments and voice. In the fall, she will begin pursuing her Master's degree at NYU in electro-acoustic composition. She is married to trumpeter Geoffrey Hull and they live in Brooklyn with Kirby the cat.
Oh, and she really loves nabeyaki udon.
