Everyone is gonna laugh, I've developed a severe addiction to hip-hop. I don't know how it happened, but one day I suddenly loved the shit! It's kinda like C. Thomas Howell in that movie where he paints himself black to get a college scholarship, and has to act like he's got soul. Only I really have soul, and I'm not painted black. So I guess it's not like that movie at all. Really though, my all time favorite band is The Gits- anyone who really knows me can attest to that. Oh! And I was in the kitchen the other day at work and one of the cooks put in The Dancehall Crashers. At first I couldn't remember the name of the band, but I knew every single frickin' word- too funny. I love Desmond Dekker, Marley and the Wailers (especially Talkin' Blues) and Jamiroquai... and I've been listening to some ambient trip-hop stuff- anything off the Axiom label is great, also looking for a copy of Return of the DJ, if you got one you better be burning it for me!
Haunted Honeymoon, Bulworth (which I call Warren Beatty's Opus), Mystery Men, Kung Fu Hustle, Red Planet, Pitch Black. Magnificent Seven, Kurosawas' Dreams. Good rated 'R' sci-fi movies, or horror. I find anything PG-13 too namby-pamby for my tastes. Actually I prefer all my comedy rated 'R' too, would rather see a boob shot then have it alluded to. Guess that makes me somewhat of a perv, but I've never denied that...I also love Japanese anime! My favorite full length is Dark Myth. Then there's a short 30 minute called Plastic Little that I watch over and over again. All the time.
Television Fucking Sucks!
My all time favorite book is 'The Eight' by Katherine Neville. (Eight like infinity, get it?) Just finished reading The Time Travelers Wife, and bawled my eyes out. Good book when I could manage to swallow the lump in my throat, clear the tears out of my eyes and read the damn thing.
Anyone who can live on this rock and not feel the need to numb/off themselves because of all the fuckin' pain, suffering, and shitty things we humans do to each other, can be a hero. Actually anyone who can wake up and be a generally nice, decent person and not contribute to negativity in the world can be my hero any day!
