| View | Add Favorite Hi , my names Mark Read , Im an ambitious Singer/Songwriter born and raised in Kingston, Surrey in the UK. Ive played in bands since I was 11, my familys all very musical, from my grandad playing the spoons(!?), my mum playing drums when she was pregnant with me to my dad being singer of a Rock n Roll band called the Wild Angels in the 70s, so it was fairly unavoidable really. After doing my time at the local clubs, pubs and hotels playing every cover imaginable, I caught my first break with the band A1, we had 2 UK number ones and I still cant remember most of it, being caught up in that whirlwind , its hard to keep up with it all, but we had some amazing experiences. We had a great run and a lot of fun but all good things have to come to an end, but looking back Ive made friends for life and I got to see so much of the world that had it not been for the band, I may not have had the chance so Ill always be thankful for those days. Ive since been doing a lot of songwriting and Ive worked with some incredibly talented songwriters and artists from around the world and it helps me to realise that you never stop learning in this business and as soon as you think you have its time to try something new! Its taken me some time but now I really feel like I have something to say with my music and Im looking forward to sharing that with anybody who might want to listen, and at the end of the day , like everybody else, Im just trying to make sense of it all!I look forward to catching up with you sometime!Oh, and by the way , I am in no way associated or affiliated with Mark Chopper Read , the notorious murderer from Australia who was recently portrayed by Eric Bana in the 2000 film , Chopper . Thought I should clear that up , I had enough of that when I was over there in Oz! : )
