Born from a Jackal

About Me

In 1994 Morbius along with Toecutter, Deviant (Necro Gladiator), Deathsaw and Discharge formed GREYDAWN a Black Metal band created with influences from MARDUK, DARKTHRONE and MY DYING BRIDE. A four track demo was recorded under the title 'Masters of the Second Order' which sold 200 copies and later re-released with only two of the tracks and sold a futher 200 copies. After a few gigs and writing new material the band split due to the different directions, some of the bands that came out of the birth of GREYDAWN were TRANSCENDENCE currently ELEGEION, RACOR, SHADOW MINION and THE MURPHY BOYS. Morbs musical tastes turned to a new Melbourne based band called ANTICHRIST, with a newly recorded demo they were in need of a vocalist so in 1996 Morb joined to push the band further into the scene releasing the demo 'Mission of Death'. After several gigs with other leading Aussie bands ANTICHRIST recorded a two track 7"EP entitled 'Blood on the Southern Cross' which sold out within the month of it's release. The 1997 release was the first on Morb's MORBID PRODUCTIONS followed by the GOSPEL OF THE HORNS 7" EP 'Monuments of Inpurity'. The label was created for distro of underground releases from bands that didn't get worldwide coverage esp. in Australia-some items are still available and very sort after. The ANTICHRIST demo was re-released as a split with Melbourne based band RANDOM VIOLENCE of approx 200-500 copies. As members left and joined other bands another oppertunity arose in the form of NOCTAMBULANT a three piece consisting of Volcano from ABOMINATOR and Deathsaw from GREYDAWN and THE MURPHY BOYS and Morbius. Only one recording was made from this band (still unreleased to this day)and no live performances. Morb left within that year to concerntrate on MORBID PRODUCTIONS and other ventures none of which were music related. Several years passed until the summer of 2001 when old bass player from ANTICHRIST asked Morb to join his current band HELLSPAWN-a brutal Death/Black Metal band consisting of five members from different bands. HELLSPAWN released their debut cd through ROTTEN RECORDS(USA) with the title of 'Lords of Eternity', merchandise also became available to metal fans in the form of several T-shirt designs one of which is still available. HELLSPAWN constantly played live including their first visit to Sydney supporting Norwegian legend MAYHEM-currently HELLSPAWN is on hold but will rise again. Morb's musical tastes broadened and the vision to form a horror death glam band was realised. Morb dug up old mate Macabre formally Haborym from VAHRZAW who had the same vision musically and visually thus completing the slow progression of this decaying zombie.
