WELFARE

The name of our band is Welfare, we began playing together in late 2002. We enjoy playing music together and we're equally horrified with the on going u.s. imperialist efforts, human rights violations, and suffering human condition both at home and abroad, so the focus of the band took on a life of its own. We had focused our attention on community activism before this last election, communicating with people about the many human rights violations Bush has caused or been involved with, and expressed our concerns of his inability to lead the country. We had the most wonderful time meeting people at our shows during this period, people who have the same concerns as we do, people who were undecided, those opposed to our opposition of the war, and found it incredibly heartwarming speaking with men and women serving the country that we may never have the chance of seeing again, but hope that's not the case. During this time we also were able to get some seventy people registered to vote at our shows, we did not promote or endorse any candidates, we simply voiced our concerns towards the current administrations, city, state and country, and left it up to the people to make their own decisions. The election was over and it was back to the drawing board for us. We finally had enough time to start working on another full length, which is where we find ourselves currently, a very exciting time for us.
