I pretty much will listen to any kind of music, but my favorite is R & B. I especially love classic R & B and 70's soul music (old school). I like some of the new school stuff too. I love Earth, Wind, And Fire, Stevie Wonder, Teddy Pendergrass, Al Green, Patti LaBelle, Gladys Knight (and The Pips), Kool And The Gang, James Brown, The Ohio Players, Cameo, DeBarge, Kindred The Family Soul, Sade, The Commodores, Atlantic Star, The S.O.S Band, Prince, The Whispers, Anita Baker, Mint Condition, The Spinners, The Temptations, Rick James, Switch, Michael Jackson, The Jacksons, The Jackson 5 (lol), The O'Jays, The Isley Brothers, Luther Vandross, Barry White, Marvin Gaye, Maxwell, Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Rufus and Chaka Khan, Chaka Khan (solo), Maze ft. Frankie Beverly, Jill Scott, Mary J.Blige, New Edition, Keith Sweat, Janet Jackson, Remy Shand, Herb Alpert & Tijuana Brass, Roger and Zapp, The Delfonics, Rose Royce, etc. The list could go on and on.
Movies:
There are soooooo many movies to pick from but here's a few of my favorites. The Color Purple, Crash, The Lord Of The Rings(the trilogy), Saw, Cooley High, Jackie Brown, Titanic, The Wizard Of Oz, Ray, Roll Bounce, Imitation Of Life, Snatch, The Bridges Of Madison County, The Women Of Brewster's Place, Halloween 1,2, 4, and H20, Crooklyn, Forest Gump, X, Set It Off, Drumline, Monster, Lady Sings The Blues, Claudine, Fried Green Tomatoes, The Ususal Suspects, Dolemite, Coffy, Foxy Brown, The Mack, JD's Revenge,(just about all of the blaxploitation movies), etc. I don't really care for Westerns or Kung Fu movies.
Television:
I love reality TV, can't get enough. I love The Real World, Surreal Life, Celebrity Fit Club, Road Rules, My Super Sweet 16 (don't laugh), Wife Swap, Trading Spouses, Project Runway, America's Next Top Model, The Amazing Race, etc. I also watch The Bernie Mac Show (love it), King of Queens, Family Guy, South Park, Seinfeld (reruns, love it), The Andy Griffith Show, Two and Half Men, King Of The Hill, What's Happening (love it),Will & Grace, Scrubs, etc. I love the A&E channel, they have great shows such as: City Confidential, American Justice, Investigative Reports, First 48 Hours, Cold Case Files, etc. I love the Animal Planet, History, TLC, Discovery, and The Food Network channels as well.
Books:
I know a lot of people will put that they read intellectual books or books about self improvement and those books are wonderful, just great. But I love Erotica and Urban Fiction books. Books from Zane, like The Sex Chronicles I & II, Addicted, Shame On It All, The Sisters of APF, etc. Books from Eric Jerome Dickey, like Milk In My Coffee, Thieves Paradise, The Other Woman, Sister/Sister, Naughty or Nice, etc. Books from Bebe Moore Campbell, like Brothers and Sisters, 72 Hour Hold, What You Owe Me, etc. I loved The Coldest Winter Ever by Sister Souljah. I love Terry McMillan, E. Lynn Harris, Benilde Little, Michael Baisden, Pearl Cleage, etc. I read mystery/suspense books also well.
Heroes:
My mom is definitely my hero. She's such a strong women and such a caring and nurturing mother. When I was young I thought my mom was Super Woman, there was nothing she couldn't do or handle. I still feel that way. She's such a positive light in my life and she's always taught me the power of forgiveness by being a great example. My mom has been through so much, whether it's an illness or heartache she continues to push on. She's a fighter, quitting isn't in her vocabulary. Her heart is so big, she has a kind spirit even to those who have done her wrong. "Kill 'em with kindness" is her motto. She can easily move on and let go of disappointing situations. I wish I had that kind of strength. I love her more than words can say, she's the only person in this world that I completely trust. She's my best friend. I love you mom!!!!!
