I enjoy swimming, going to the lake, camping, basketball, football, golf and well, just about all outdoor activities. Someone once asked me what i thought life was all about. I think it's about all of the little things that most people take for granted. It's the lake on a warm weekend, the feel of summer on your skin. It's watching the sunrise over the mountains and watching it set on the ocean. It's the old basketball goals on the sides of barns throughout Indiana or a thoroughbred running through the bluegrass fields of Kentucky. It's the smokey mountains at dawn, and the music on Beale street at dusk. It's steamboats floating down the river or the tug of a fish at the end of your line. It's the first time you hold hands with your first love and it's the holding your dying grandfather's hand for the last time. It's the look on a child's face on Christmas morning or the playfulness of a little puppy. It's being able to make someone laugh or knowing that at least one life has breathed easier because of you. It's giving, giving and giving and never asking anything in return except to see the joy that your generosity has brought. It's sitting around a campfire and telling lies with your best friends or that first sip of homemade strawberry wine. We are surrounded by things that people taked for granted everyday. Some don't see the beauty of these things or moments and i guess others just choose not to see them at all. Last weekend i saw a bald eagle flying over the lake right next to our boat. It was one of the most majestic things i have ever seen. A symbol of strength, courage and freedom. A reminder of the men and women who are over seas putting their lives on the line so that i could have that moment. You have to enjoy life to the fullest because you never know when you'll get the chance again. A little 9yr old girl taught me that...
