In 1996, Andreas Stamnes entered the Norwegian blues scene through the legendary blues pub Muddys Pub in Spydeberg. Despite his young age of only 16, Andreas quickly made a name for himself as both a talented guitarplayer and singer. During the winter of 1999 he was invited to tour all over Florida with the famous blues master David C. York, better known as Rock Bottom. Being an American with a thick southern accent, Rock found it hard to pronounce Andreas' name and came up with the nickname Little Andrew. The rest, as they say, is history. Andreas returned to Norway seething with inspiration and energy, and formed a group of his own: Little Andrew & The Blue Masters. They went on to win the Union Blues Cup in 2000 and toured all over Norway throughout the millenium. Some highlights included Notodden Blues Festival, Åmål Blues Festival, Drøbak Blues Festival, Oslo Jazz Festival and many others.
In 2006 Andreas faced a comeback, teaming up with his old friend and freelance guitarist Kai-Sverre Fjellberg, bassist Pål M. Dahlø and drummer Kåre A. Amundsen to form the band Little Andrew & The Magic Rockets, a band totally dedicated to the true tradition of blues, soul and rock n'roll. Andreas and his band did several gigs, most important, Drøbak Blues Festival, Østersund Blues Festival and Fredrikstad Blues Camp.
During the recording session of their debut album at JukeJoint Studio in Notodden earlier this year, the band decided to rename the band to only Little Andrew. The sound is more aggressive and more down-to-earth rock n’ roll, but still of course the blues is present. Playing guitar not from the top of his head, but from the gut, Andreas and the band has developed a unique rhapsody of hard rocking blues with a bit of to-the-point vocal phrasing and charisma. Rock n’ Roll hits rock bottom, and there is no reason to stay home!
