About Me
Donald Macleod’s interest in music began in earnest in 1979 when he began his music career playing guitar for ‘First Priority’, a band signed to MCA Records and who supported acts such as The Clash and Public Image Limited. In 1986, Donald co-founded ‘The Crows’, with whom he supported The Dammed and The Mission. In the late eighties, Donald started a rock club night in Bathgate, West Lothian, called ‘The Cathouse’. Based on the old-fashioned principles of rock n roll, Donald’s foresight of this niche gap, against the background of the growing acid house scene, paid off and now forms the basis of the business principles and foundations of what is recognised as one of Scotland’s leading independent multiple licensed trade operators and concert promoters – CPL Entertainment Group and Cathouse Promotions Ltd (‘CPL’).Donald is also the Chairman of the Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy in Scotland Fundraising Committee. His zest and drive for this charity has helped double the money raised in previous years, from running annual events such as the Tartan Clef Awards that raise awareness and money for the charity while recognising talent in the Scottish music industry. In 2005 Donald launched himself as a columnist in the Scottish Mirror. ‘The Big Stuff’ was a great success however the Scottish Mirror was closed at the end of 2005. He has since brought ‘The Big Stuff’ to The Scottish Sun every Saturday and is gaining new fans every week.In January 2007, Donald started his weekly show on Glasgow's Rock Radio. You can listen from 6-8pm every Thursday night.
