The People are one of the Danish music scene’s best kept secrets; purveyors of soulful, powerful, and often deeply-moving music, whose blistering live shows leave their audiences breathless. Citing influences such as U2, Simple Minds, and Echo and The Bunnymen, The People create a vibrant warm-inspired sound well suited for stadium rock and alternative rock fans alike.
Originally, the group was formed in Copenhagen (2003) by former schoolmates Nicolai Villum Jensen (vocals), Hans Grølsted (guitar), Martin Nielsen (bass), and Rasmus Schebye (drums). After spending several years in London, Morten Steingrim (keyboard) returned to Copenhagen to find that his former schoolmates had formed a band. Morten agreed to join the band, and under the name; The People , they began years of intensive rehearsing. After playing a handful of small club gigs, bass player Martin Nielsen parted ways with the band, with Elad Dorry taking his place in 2005.
If you take the fast growing audience, this is the band to watch out for in the future. The music from the people is just as noisy as it is beautiful and flamboyant. A strong belief in the music combined with easily recognizable chorus defines The People. The group is currently working on their debut album. It’s expected late 2007.
