I’m nearing the half way mark for life, if you go by the familial average of death. We don’t live long enough to be a burden. However, years of life left aren’t a concern. What’s most important is living the present moment fully. I’ve been slacking. In the spirit of being in the now, I’m not tallying the time lost anymore. All the same, as a story teller, I still collect and fondle memories.
The day is here! The day I make an attempt to update my profile on myspace. Go me.
In no particular order yet; I’m a mother of two amazing daughters. Parental bias aside, they are neat mini-people.
I consider myself a newlywed still, even though my husband and I were married in October of 2006. We share goofiness, reading, movies, video games and various other forms of mental masturbation.
I enjoy dancing around my house when no one else is home and pants aren’t required.
Our dog thinks he’s our son. Brisco is an 80 lb German short haired pointer and he smiles and laughs in his own doggy way. He also likes to chew and doesn’t realize he’s 80 lbs.
Driving used to be fun until I had a few major accidents. My fear and anger are handled by singing off key with enthusiasm; the only way I know how. Because I have good hearing and empathy for my fellow man, I don’t sing around others; not even (or especially) if it’s your birthday.
In two years, I’ll have lived in Arizona for an equal amount of time to how long I lived in California and New Jersey combined. I still don’t have a concise answer to, “Where are you from?â€
Since I began “working†at the age of 11, I’ve had too many jobs. This is glaringly apparent when I try to create a resume. I’ve been a photographer, an airline reservationist (wow, that’s a word), a professional clown/children’s entertainer, phone customer support for the USPS, day care instructor, accountant, data entry person, transit operator (actually has nothing to do with cars and everything to do with running a big machine that processes checks), communications specialist (you’d think the title would tell you something more about it; basically a writer in marketing) and currently I’m an unpublished (unemployed) writer. I’m sure I’ve missed something unimportant.
I’m the oldest of five children. Not too long ago, the youngest became an adult. My fathers 50th birthday is this year. My parents were busy (ewe and shame on you; I meant handling their children, not making them). I believe this dynamic has played a big part in shaping who I am today.
Music is important to me, but I’m horrible with names in general and bands I like specifically. When I get around to other sections of this profile, I’ll take time to figure out who I listen to. For now I’ll say that in general I’m not a fan of country music but I think the word country is hilarious.
In theory, I love movies. Just like music, some other day I’ll try to list some of my favorites. I find it interesting that almost all of the DVD’s I’ve purchased for myself make me cry. If asked, I say I love thoughtful comedy.
As far as television goes, I used to have a show a year that I would watch on a regular basis. Now I just catch up online when the itch needs scratching. I had to stop watching brilliant new shows from the beginning. They kept getting canceled. Lately I’ve been keeping up with Lost, Eli Stone and Grey’s Anatomy. “Keeping up†being a relative term with the strike delays affecting the term lately.
Of late I’ve been more productive then usual. On that note, I’ll leave well enough alone and get back to it.
