that's kind of been said in the 'about me' section...comedy, writing, friends, reading, art, laughing....etc, etc. I hate the squishy bits in yoghurt - eerrgh! the creation of the devil!
Johnny Depp, Noel Fielding, Julian Barratt, Russell Howard, Eddie Izzard...I like lovely funny men! I'd like to meet Sephen Fry too although I'd probably feel like a complete idiot as he's a genius...and I am not. also,- if he was still alive or if i could go back in a time machine - Eric Morecambe. I'd also like to meet up with my old uni girls more often as i miss them lots :( (soppy git)
Mainly I'm an Indie girl but I like a bit of everything really, except dancy trancy shit which is simply shit. Not really a fan of rap either. I love - Kasabian, The Killers, The Kaiser Cheifs (I do like others that don't begin with K!) Queen, Led Zeppelin, Bright Eyes, Massive Attack, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin (gotta love the Rat Pack!), Michael Jackson (NOT a kiddie fiddler!), Go!Team, Anthony and the Johnsons, Wham (u can't beat them for 80's cheese!), DJ Shadow, Chemical Brothers, Credence Clearwater Rivival(!),Belle and Sebastian, Katie Melluah, The Editors, Maximo Park, Willy Mason, Damien Rice, David Gray, Paul Weller/The Jam,....i'm afraid I also like various cheesy things that u can dance around to like a complete idiot, some of which are far too embarressing to write down...so I'm writing them anyway! I know the dance moves to Rolf Harris' Court of King Caratacus - the shame! I can't stand people who are too cool to laugh at themselves.
I like most films except action I guess. I'd say my favourite genre would be comedy (just for a change!) and of course I like my weepy chick flicks even if I am a bit more bitter and cynical in my old age! My favourite film is a very close call between the amazing 'Shawshank Redemption' and Disney's 'Robin Hood'! I've grown up with Disney and don't care if I'm 23, they're still great...perhaps it's a nostalgia craving! I also love - Napolean Dynamite, Dodgeball, Amelie, Wayne's World 1&2, Home Alone (classic!), Garden State, Ice Age (doesn't anybody love sssid the sssloth!?), Dumb and Dumber, Back to the future - all!, To Wong Foo (Patrick Swayze and Wesley Snipes in drag!) Karate Kid 1, The Wedding Singer, Requiem for a Dream, Dirty Dancing, The Goonies, Donnie Brasco, Edward Scissorhands, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistlestop Cafe, Steel Magnolias, All Monty Pythons, Kes, Shrek 1&2, Ghostbusters, Something About Mary, Zoolander, Sliding Doors, Love Actually (bit sad I know), Ghost, The Snowman(I still cry!), Big, The Pianist (very upsetting and disturbing but good), About Schmidt, Pirates of the Caribbean (mmm Johnny Depp),The Shining (like this even though i'm a complete wuss and can't really watch scary films unless armed with a pillow or preferably a nice man to cuddle me!)
Comedy programmes are definately my favourite thing to watch, but I like other stuff too. So here comes the list...The Mighty Boosh (bloody brilliant! went to see their live show and nearly peed myself!), The League of Gentlemen, Little Britain, QI (Stephen Fry is god)Blackadder, Father Ted, Red Dwarf, Phoenix Nights, Peep Show, Green Wing, Black Books, Monty Python, Morecambe and Wise (still hilarious), Sex and the City (what girl doesn't love it!?), Lost, Desperate Houswives, Columbo(there's just one more thing...) ER, The Antiques Roadshow (i'm prepared for you mocking me!) CSI - i used to think 'Miami' was the best of them, as I love the cheesiness of Horatio! Every week he turns to the relative of the victim, holds their hand, gives them a determined look and says "don't worry, I'll find who did this" (we know you will Horatio! You're brilliant!) then replaces his sunglasses ready for action! However, i do prefer Vegas now, sorry H.
My favourite book is 'Birdsong' by Sebastian Faulks, but I have to say I was a bit disappointed with Charlotte Gray. I'm a Harry Potter geek too...oh yes I've been one of those sad people who que up at midnight! I also like - The Versuvius Club - Mark Gaitiss, Shop girl- Steve Martin, The Woman in Black, Different Seasons - Stephen King, The Catcher in the Rye,Rotkho's biograpahy, Dracula, Captain Corelli's Mandolin (did those who made the film ever read it I wonder), Kes, Of Mice and Men, Cannery Row, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, 1984, Eric Morecambe biographies, Roald Dahl were the greatest childrens books! I like Alain De Bottons work, erm...can't think of any others at the moment.
My heroes are mainly comedians...I never realised I had such a fixation with comedy until forced to write all this info! I also admire writers a great deal. I'd say my greatest hero is Eric Morecambe. I was born a year before he died but have always watched re-runs etc of the Morecambe and Wise show and just fell in love with him. He's naturally funny, a genius and the greatest British comedian. I'd say my other heroes are - Spike Millagan, Roald Dahl, Mark Rothko (abstract expressionist artist)... erm think that's about it. Also, I wouldn't say they're my heroes but I bloody love - Eddie Izzard, Lee Evans, Peter Kay, Noel Fielding & Julian Barrett, Billy Connelly, Rowan Atkinson, David Mitchell, Russell Howard...and probably more that I can't think of right now.
