Constantine Maroulis Will Join The Wedding Singer on September 8 By: Brian Scott Lipton Constantine Maroulis ( Joseph Marzullo/Retna) Former American Idol contestant Constantine Maroulis will take over the role of Sammy in the Broadway musical The Wedding Singer on September 8 for an eight-week run concluding on November 11. He replaces original cast member Matthew Saldivar. Maroulis has appeared throughout the U.S. and internationally as Roger in Rent, and appeared in the Williamstown Theatre Festival production of God of Vengrance. He has toured in concert with other American Idol finalists and is currently working on his debut CD.Based on the popular film of the same name, The Wedding Singer opened on Broadway on April 27 and was nominated for five Tony Awards, including Best Musical. It tells the story of Robbie Hart, New Jersey's most popular wedding singer, who begins to ruin other people's nuptials after his fiance leaves him at the altar. Things begin to look up after he meets Julia, a warm-hearted waitress -- who is also engaged to be married.Directed by John Rando and choreographed by Rob Ashford, the show features music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin, and a book by Beguelin and Tim Herlihy. You are amazing. I know this comes as a surprise to most of you but it has been in the cards for a long time coming. We had an amazing time on tour and have had some great shows. It is just time. I can no longer expect the band to wait for me to pursue my solo endeavors...it is not fair to them. I will not bore you with the rest. They are three very talented artists and I trust you will continue to support them in whatever they chose to do. I know you will. I know many of you are sad but you shouldn't be..."It's a celebration!".I have been very blessed and I owe it all to my AMAZING fans, my INCREDIBLE team and my loving family. Thank you all for your support. I love you!So Nashville was great. I got so much work done and came out of there with four new songs. Writing with some of the best songwriters in the industry and we are all excited by the results. I will be returning to Nashville soon. Thinking about giving everyone a taste real soon...of course if you are all good boys and girls that is!New website is in the works and just saw some of the layout...Real Slick!All the theatre this week really makes me want to return to the stage...we are actively looking for the right project.Not gonna go too deep into the stuff I am working on Film/TV wise but want you to know how pleased I am with all the progress behind the scenes. Trust me, you are gonna see so much of me in the very near future that it will make you sick!In NYC for now with my management team hustlin' deals on a daily basis. Should be in LA next week sometime for some meetings. Most likely I will be at the Finale as well.
