Hello! My name is Ryan and I enjoy being creative, working with textiles and apparel, having fun, and making each day of my life worthwhile. Currently a student at Virginia Tech, I will be graduating with my undergraduate degrees in Spring 2008. I have over 12 years of experience working in the field of retail. I grew up working with my grandparents in their business Power of Flowers that had been successful for over 10 years, spent 5 years working at Belk, and I am presently working as a Sales Clerk at the Virginia Tech University Bookstore. I make jewelry, clothing and other apparel products. Below are some samples of my work that I have done for my Apparel Design degree. 1. Sketches:

2. Patternmaking - this is a process in which I design and create pattern pieces that will be used to cut fabric and label marking to construct a garment. This can take numerous hours to make depending on the complexity of the garment design.

3. Draping - with draping, I use fabric and pin it on a dress form to create a design for a garment. After the design for a fabric is created and any markings are placed on the fabric (if needed), the garment is removed from the dress form and sewn together.

4) Constructing Garments - this includes labeling and cutting fabric, sewing (either using a sewing machine or by hand), hemming, beading, and anything that is associated with contructing a garment.

5) For my major, I am not required to make jewelry. However, I make jewelry for fun and I like to incorporate a variety of colors and styles in my designs.
