I am here for Dating, Serious Relationships, Friends and Networking

About Me

Man that is WAY outdated now.I am about to graduate from Mount Holyoke College with a major in Philosophy and minor in Gender studies. I am planning on taking a year off and then continuing my education in Social Justice Education at UMass, but perhaps public policy.I now have an awesome apartment in Easthampton with a great roommate, and I am an assistant manager at Torrid, a plus size clothing store, and an assistant for Jeph and Cristi of questionablecontent.net. I looove my jobs, and probably a little too over-excited about having more time to work. Ha!Anyway, I consider myself a fat, queer femme, who enjoys folks of all gender identities. I am just out of a long term relationship and a very hard breakup, so I'm not really looking for anything serious at the moment. Friends would be super cool, since it seems to be that everyone scatters after graduation and I love the chance to meet new people!I will especially like you if you like walking around aimlessly, talking, plants, spontaneity, laying in bed cuddling for long periods of time, and using extremely weird voices for no good reason. It will help if you are ok with my mild OCD and accept that I will probably not take a sip of a bottle of water if you have already drunk out of it, or that crumbs/sand on the bed is strictly forbidden.Anyway, that is my life, and I think I"m pretty cool. Are you pretty cool too?

My Interests

political activism, flameworking, glass, pretty colors, sewing, music, clarinet, the wind, klezmer music, silversmithing, lapidary, making my own clothes, boys with glasses, existentialism, girls with glasses, knitting, philosophy, political satire, gender theory, Poland, photography, the color chartreuse

I'd like to meet:

someone with a decent brain between their ears. progressive thinkers, intelligent conservatives, people who like science fiction, and everyone in between. I just like talking to people, and I think every person I speak to enriches me in some way.

Music:

Bob Dylan, The Skatalites, Ani Difranco, Cat Power, The Mammals, 10,000 Maniacs, The Amazing Crowns, Tori Amos, Hepcat, Toots and the Maytals, The Beatles, Belle and Sebastian, Yonder Mountain String Band, Count Basie, Big D and the Kids Table, Dar Williams, Dispatch, Harry Chapin, Flogging Molly, Go Betty Go, Joni Mitchell, Sublime, O.A.R., The Pietasters, The Specials, Suzanne Vega, The Toasters, Suicide Machines, ZOX, Girlyman, Tegan and Sara, Bitch and Animal, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Billie Holiday

Movies:

oof. I'm not even going to try. I love sophia coppola, tim burton, and mockumentaries. I also can't resist movies with philosophical slants. I will admit it, I am a philosophy nut.

Television:

I have recently become obsessed with Veronica Mars and House (with the rest of America, it seems). In addition, I wish they would bring back Firefly, I would like project runway's new season to start now, and I wish I could remember when Law and Order, CSI and all their various incarnations are playing, but it seems to be impossible. I also really miss old-school nickelodeon.

Books:

haha, I'm not even going to begin. It's pretty much a split between academic books and science-fiction books. Most of the stuff I read is for school right now, and I also really love reading philosophy for fun...

Heroes:

so this is going to be super corny, but my parents are some of the most amazing people I know. It's not because we're super close and a perfect family (far from it) but because I don't know many parents who have intellectual conversations with their kids, who are passionate and work for what they believe in, and raise accomplished and empowered children. They are my role models for how I want to be professionally, parentally, and socially.academic heroes: Judith Butler, Ann-Fausto Sterling, my advisor Sam Mitchell (He is the reason I am on my current academic path), and all the professors who have inspired me to pursue my passions and have shown that they have faith in me. I'm a cornball, I know, but it is true and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
