About Me

Wow, I just looked at my profile for the first time now that it says I am 30. No way is that possible.Actually, though, it hasn't bothered me too much; I don't feel particularly old, and I'm pretty happy with where I am in life just now.My latest transition is that I've become a downtown girl (as opposed to an Uptown Girl, I guess? Sad, that was my absolute favorite song when I was 8 and danced to it in the recital). Anyway, downtown i.e. I live on Peachtree Street and take MARTA to work every day, with my ipod in my ears and my commuter bag with book and work shoes on my shoulder. I am ridiculously proud of this. Though I do miss NPR. And I wonder if I'll miss the Park when the weather gets nice.I would like to continue my updating with new pictures of my short-haired self, but my internet explorer crashes every time I try to go to myspace on my computer, the one that has all my pictures. Any suggestions???I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.1

My Interests

Fun stuff in Atlanta. Books, movies, music, etc. Food and wine. Dance, theater. Words and languages. Otters, obelisks, and oddities.

Music:

I know, it's clichd, but really: lots of stuff, and I'm not music-savvy enough to describe it well. On my ipod frequently: Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, The Postal Service, Death Cab, Theivery Corporation, Fiona Apple, Sting, Jamie Cullum, miscellaneous Latin and Euro-house stuff from friends' mixes, Esthero, some classical. And as a true member of my generation, I will pretty much ALWAYS get up and dance to goofy 80's pop.

Movies:

Short list? Roman Holiday, Life is Beautiful, Philadelphia Story, Amlie, Love Actually, Waiting for Guffman, Shine... I'm pretty easy to please, though I tend to scorn the big Hollywood stuff, but sometimes I secretly enjoy one of those. Shhh...

Books:

I'm inclined to devour them. I'm way too lazy to read non-fiction; just tell me a story. Ian McEwan, Michael Chabon, Ann Patchett, Philip Pullman, Richard Russo, Jane Austen, Neil Gaiman, Barbara Kingsolver, Margaret Atwood, John Irving (sometimes), Jasper Fforde (for a while), Harry Potter (forever)... I'm not above YA fiction, occasionally like a fantasy, love a murder mystery (but more like Agatha Christie, less like... I don't know, one of those current-day bloody ones). I'm a little inclined to be scared to try new authors, so good recommedations are desperately appreciated.

My Blog

I found my dad on myspace!

As some people already know, my dad passed away last week after a serious bicycle accident.  Needless to say, no one in the family, least of all him, was prepared for him to never come home from ...
